Parks & Rec hosts All-Stars Tournament

Hartselle Parks and Recreation and Morgan County Parks and Rec hosted All American Youth Sports’ first-ever All-Star Tournament this past weekend.

The tournament featured 57 teams from around North Alabama, including two from Hartselle and two from Morgan County, along with five from Decatur.

Thomas Phillips, who is the sports coordinator for Hartselle Parks and Rec, said that the tournament was a tremendous success for Hartselle.

“Being able to host tournaments like this weekend’s tournament helps the whole community of Hartselle,” Phillips said.

The tournament started slowly, with rain impacting Thursday’s schedule as 10U and 12U had to be canceled due to field conditions. But the 6U and 8U teams got to play and had some exciting games.

Games continued Friday night and all day Saturday, with nine total champions being crowned by the end of the day.

Here are the champions of each bracket:

  • 6U Belles: Hartselle
  • 6U Peaches: Madison
  • 8U Belles: Lawrence County
  • 8U Peaches: Florence
  • 10U Belles: Underwood
  • 10U Peaches: Lawrence County
  • 12U Belles: Wal-Win
  • 12U Peaches: Decatur
