Two vehicle crash kills Hartselle woman

A two-vehicle crash at approximately 12:50 p.m. May 16, has claimed the life of a Hartselle woman. Ashley Dawn Ledlow, 39, was fatally injured when the 1999 Honda Civic in which she was a passenger, attempted to cross the roadway and was struck by a 2016 Kia Sportage driven by Vikki Renae Roberts, 51, of Cullman. The Honda left the roadway and struck a guywire.  Ledlow was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the Honda, Jason Brantley Lorenza, 35, of Hartselle, was injured and transported by helicopter to a nearby hospital for treatment. Roberts and Pegi G. Defoor, 73, of Sumiton, the passenger in the Kia were both injured and transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. The crash occurred on Alabama 157 near Danville Road, approximately 10 miles west of Hartselle. Nothing further is available as Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
