Mastin to be named new boys’ basketball coach at Danville

Danville High School will name former Addison boys’ basketball coach Ben Mastin as their new boys’ basketball head coach this week.

“I thank God for this opportunity. This was a sure blessing from him,” Mastin said. “Principal Chambers and I have a shared vision for the program at Danville. I love the school and community. The kids are bought into basketball. The facilities are amazing for a 3A, and the administration support is top-notch, which is needed if you want to build a successful program. I’m excited to get started.”

Mastin replaces Scott Ellis who stepped down following this past season. Ellis led the Hawks to the Northwest Regional in 2021 and three times to the sub-regional.

Mastin, 24, was at Addison for three years. He led the Bulldogs to the sub-regional in 2022. He came to Addison after being an assistant at Deshler and Shoals Christian.
