Hartselle boys, girls golf teams advance to sub-state

The Hartselle boys and girls golf teams advanced to this week’s sub-state with a strong performance at sectionals this past week. 

The girls’ team advanced by placing first in the sectional tournament played at Goosepond Colony Golf Club in Scottsboro. The team shot a score of 237 to win the tournament by six strokes over Cullman. Ginger Heath was the tournament’s low medalist after shooting a 70. Teammate Lauren Temples finished sixth, while Alyssa Berry finished seventh. The girl’s 237 total was the second-lowest score in 6A behind UMS-Wright’s 227. 

The boys’ team advanced by finishing third in the tournament. The team finished with a total of 318, 11 shots back of Athens. Tristan Wisener shot a 73 to earn the tournament’s low medalist. Chandler Voss finished fifth, three shots back of his teammate. 

In 4A, the Priceville boys and girls advanced to the substrate with third-place finishes in their sectionals. The boys were led by Sammy Holmes’s third-place finish, while Cole Lindeman finished seventh and John Swiger finished in ninth. The girls were led by Sam Arnold, who finished sixth. 

In 3A, Danville boys advanced to substrate with a third-place finish at sectionals. Carter Holloway finished tied for low medalist in leading Danville.
