Special to the Enquirer

Katie Lovelady, a Hartselle native, represented the University of Alabama–Birmingham this past week at the Clinton Global Initiative University.

Lovelady, a senior majoring in industrial distribution at the Collat School of Business, was one of 1,000 students from across the country chosen to present a Commitment to Action plan as part of the special opportunity.

The Clinton Global Initiative University is an extension of former President Bill Clinton’s initiative, engaging leaders on campuses around the world to form initiatives addressing existing challenges.

Lovelady and her fellow representatives presented plans with specific and measurable steps to address challenges in one of five focus areas: education, environment and climate change, peace and human rights, poverty alleviation or public health.
