CAP cadets help with Crestline flags

Special to the Enquirer

The Civil Air Patrol cadets of the General Joe Wheeler Squadron visit Crestline Elementary March 16 to help out with raising the flags. After arriving at the school, cadets Izen Thornton, Aleigh Williams and Parker Stewart talked with Anna Penrod and Reese Long about flag etiquette, history of the nation’s flag and the proper way to raise the colors. “It was a lot of fun to be there with the young students, seeing how they took initiative to show respect to the flag of our country – and I was so happy to be there to help them out,” said Williams. Thornton added, “As a member of the color guard at the high school, we showed the students how we do it, as we raise the flag at all the football games. The little guys really seemed to enjoy it. Teaching those who will be coming up and take our place one day was really neat.”
