Voluntary Pre-K program pre-registration continues through March 22

By Martha Jackson

Morgan County Schools’ First Class Pre-K programs are accepting online pre-registration applications for the 2022-2023 school year through March 22.

Pre-registration is open to all children who will be 4 years of age Sept. 1 and who are residents of Alabama. Children who are eligible to attend kindergarten are not eligible for Pre-K.

Registrants must provide a copy of the child’s birth certificate, which may be uploaded into the online pre-registration site or submitted directly to the local First Class Pre-K school/program. Registrants must also provide proof of residence: either a current utility bill or copy of a lease or  mortgage. This also may be uploaded into the online pre-registration site or submitted directly to the local First Class Pre-K school program.

Public school system Pre-K programs could have zoning requirements that determine eligibility for attending a program at a particular school. Contact the school for attendance zone information.

Upon enrollment, a child’s immunization record must be provided to the school or program.

You can go online to pre-register at prek.alaceed.alabama.gov.

Acceptance into a First Class Pre-K program is strictly through a random selection drawing. The parent or guardian does not have to be present at drawing. Email notices of  acceptance status will be sent in mid-April.

The random selection drawing will be held March 24 at 9 a.m. at the virtual and ERC room behind Priceville Junior High School.

If you need assistance accessing the online application, contact a local First Class Pre-K school/program. You can also contact Tanya McCain, tjmccain@morgank 12.org, or call 256-309-2153.
