Are you battling against unrighteousness?

By Todd Barrier

This past week was what they call “Rivalry Week” in college football. The Iron Bowl, Bedlam, The Game, The Apple Cup and many other games pit in-state or across-state-line rivals against each other.

These games play out once a year for about four hours, but they are participated in 365 days per year. From the bragging rights to the memories, the recruiting and more, these games are talked about and remembered by fans and universities every day.

In our spiritual lives, it’s the same way. We have an enemy who is trying to defeat us every day and every hour.

In Eph. 6:12-13 the Bible says, “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore, take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.”

We are reminded we have a much bigger fight every day than a football rivalry. We are in a spiritual battle that we can win if we take up the armor of God.

We just have to take it more seriously than we do the fleshly battles of life.

Are you battling every day against unrighteousness?
