Lady Tigers use second-half surge to overcome Austin

Hartselle used a second-half surge to run away from Austin in the Lady Tigers’ 59-27 win Nov. 16.

The Lady Tigers overcame a poor shooting performance in the first half to lead 22-18 at halftime. Masyn Marchbanks had eight points in the half, six of those in the first quarter. Hartselle trailed Austin 11-10 following the first quarter but outscored the Lady Black Bears 12-7 in the second to take the lead.

Hartselle took control in the third quarter, outscoring Austin 21-7.

Marchbanks had 12 points to lead the Lady Tigers surge. Karleigh Shipley added four. Hartselle took a 43-25 lead into the fourth quarter.

The Lady Tiger defense dominated the final quarter, holding the Lady Black Bears to two points. Emma Roden scored five points, and Sage Patrick had four, to lead Hartselle. The Lady Tigers outscored Austin 16-2 to grab the 32-point victory.

Marchbanks finished with 23 points, five rebounds, seven assists and six steals. Shipley added 11 points, four rebounds and three steals, while Kaitlyn Hogan had seven points, 10 rebounds, and a steal. Alyssa McMinemon had six points, three rebounds, an assist, four steals and three blocks.

Jameisha Harris had nine points to lead Austin (1-3).
