Falkville’s Jack McCaig Park is now reopened after undergoing a major facelift – to the tune of more than $42,000. A rubber and resin material has replaced the woodchips in the play areas, reducing potential trip hazards and offering the community an overall more aesthetic environment, Mayor Ken Winkles explained. The project was made possible by Pilgrim’s Pride through a community enhancement grant. Representatives from the plant and the Town of Falkville were on site Oct. 22 to unveil a sign and officially reopen the park to the public. “They’re real good partners to work with; this could never have happened without them,” Winkles said. The grant process took a year and a half, Winkles said, with the Town of Falkville contributing $8,000 to the project.
