Lady Tigers win third straight Morgan County volleyball title

Hartselle continued dominance in the Morgan County Volleyball tournament Thursday, as the Lady Tigers won for the third time in a row and fourth in five seasons. 

The Lady Tigers defeated 3A No. 5 Danville 2-0 (25-22, 25-20) in the finals to take home the crown. 

Hartselle advanced to the finals with a 2-0 (25-13, 25-9) win over Decatur and a 2-0 (25-18, 25-13) win over Austin in pool play. The Tigers received a bye into the semifinals, where they defeated 4A No. 10 Priceville 2-0 (25-14, 25-17). 

Grace Tapscott had 32 assists, 15 digs and 10 kills to lead Hartselle. Jadyn Chesser had 19 kills and 12 digs, while Lydia Simmons had 16 kills and three blocks.  

Alia Wright had 15 kills, four blocks, and Katie Gillott added 15 kills.  

Amber Holshouser had 16 assists and 12 digs, while her sister Ashley Holshouser finished with 23 digs. KJ Jones had 26 digs, and Megan Lee added 14 digs. Kennedy Sheats had eight kills. 

Danville 

Danville advanced to the finals with a 2-0 (25-15, 25-13) win over Decatur Heritage and a 2-0 (25-11, 25-8) win over Falkville in pool play. In the semifinals, Danville defeated 4A No. 9 West Morgan 2-0 (25-13, 25-20). 

Priceville 

Priceville advanced to the semifinals with a 2-1 win over Brewer and a 2-0 win over West Morgan in pool play. In the quarterfinals, Priceville defeated Decatur Heritage 2-0 (25-13, 25-14). 

Zoey Benson had 29 digs, 17 kills, four blocks, and three aces for the Lady Bulldogs. Katelyn Falciani had 36 kills and 10 aces; Emma Rehmer had 39 assists, eight digs, and four aces; and Lacey Clark had 30 digs.
