Another issue of Hartselle Living is on its way, and I can’t wait for our readers to see this one! Even the issues of our magazine that sort of sneak up on me and make me feel as though I’m behind seem to come together better than ever now, and it makes me happy to know how well they are received.

I think working on this magazine is one of my favorite parts of my job. Stay tuned because in just about two weeks, the July/August issue will hit our stands, and I’m proud of this one.

As the editor of both the newspaper and the magazine, I’m sure you can imagine, I try to be heavily involved in the goings-on of our community. I remember in October 2017 when I interviewed for this position with the vice president of the company that owned the newspaper at the time, one of my first questions was how I could assimilate and quickly get my finger on the pulse of what was happening in a town that, at the time, I knew very little about and had few connections.

It was daunting when I called him a few weeks later to accept the position – which, back then, was based in Hartselle but shared nearly half its time with another market that came along with a second weekly newspaper and a monthly magazine.

I’m questioning my sanity a little at this moment, wondering what made me think that was a good idea!

I’m only kidding, of course, because obviously I’m still here and have no immediate plans to change that.

I think the newspaper and our issues of Hartselle Living aren’t the only things that keep getting better.

I’m not trying to say it has all been me; it definitely hasn’t.

If you’re one of those people I can call on at a moment’s notice for a story, a quote, an idea for a lead, to use as a sounding board or sometimes as a counselor – you know who you are! – I’m very thankful for you. I’m sure you’ve played a larger role in whatever success I’ve experienced than you will ever know.
