The Tigers traveled up to Tennessee for some Spring Break baseball last week. They played some of the top teams from the Volunteer State during their six-game road trip in Murfreesboro and Shelbyville.

They opened with four games in Murfreesboro playing Christ Presbyterian, Siegel, Riverdale, and Houston. They closed out the week playing Shelbyville Central and Summit.

Hartselle 3, Christ Presbyterian 1

Caleb Pittman allowed one run and struck out nine over seven innings to lead the Tigers to a 3-1 victory over the Lions. Eli Snelson finished with two hits, while JoJo Williams had two RBIs and a hit. Hartselle outhit Christ Presbyterian 7-3.

Siegel 4, Hartselle 2

Hartselle fell behind 4-0 after the first four innings in their 4-2 loss to the Stars. Snelson and Drew Cartee each finished with two hits and an RBI to lead the Tigers’ offense. Cartee took the loss on the mound giving up four runs and striking out six in 5.1 innings. The Tigers outhit Siegel 7-2.

Houston 2, Hartselle 1

The Mustangs came from behind with two runs in the top of the fifth to defeat Hartselle 2-1 in a pitcher’s duel. Elliott Bray took the loss despite allowing only three hits while striking out 15 in a complete-game effort from the Auburn commitment. Both runs were unearned. Five Tigers had a hit in the game as Hartselle outhit Houston 5-3.

Riverdale 5, Hartselle 1 – 8 innings

The Tigers lost a 5-1 heartbreaker on a walk-off grand slam in the bottom of the eighth inning at Riverdale. Cartee had three hits, while Snelson and Brodie Morrow each had two hits. Snelson scored Hartselle’s only run. JT Blackwood took the loss giving up five runs while striking out eight in 7.1 innings. The Tigers outhit Riverdale 9-5.

Hartselle 13, Shelbyville Central 0

The Tigers picked up a 13-0 over Shelbyville Central behind the pitching of William Turner. Turner allowed one hit and struck out four in a five-inning complete game. The Hartselle offense scored runs in every inning but the first, including six runs in the top of the fifth. Morrow had three hits, while Peyton Steele and Blaze Gillespie each had two hits. Bray and Cartee each had three RBIs, while Morrow finished with two. Snelson scored three runs, while Coleman Mizell, Steel, Bray, and Eli Tidwell each scored two. The Tigers outhit the Golden Eagles 12-1.

Hartselle 13, Summit 4

Snelson had five RBIs to lead the Tigers to a 13-4 come-from-behind victory over Summit to close out their Spring Break road trip. Hartselle found themselves in a 2-0 hole before 13 runs over the final four innings. Snelson led a group of five Tiger batters who finished with two hits each. Gillespie and Williamson each scored three runs, while Cartee and Ben Griffin each scored two. Colby Widner picked up the win allowing four runs on four hits while striking out eight in 6.1 innings. The Tigers outhit Summit 13-4.
