Council acts on changes for new city hall project

The Hartselle City Council authorized Mayor Randy Garrison to execute change orders on the renovation of the new City Hall project, as long as the total does not exceed the contract cost, at its regular meeting March 9.  

Change orders involving the multi-million project were a subject discussed with council members by city attorney Larry Madison at the request of the mayor. 

The building, formerly owned and operated by Wells Fargo Bank, is on schedule for completion in late summer, Garrison said.   

The mayor was also authorized to negotiate an engineering agreement with Garver Engineers to prepare plans for ALDOT-TAP funding the sidewalks on Sparkman, Hines and Sycamore streets. 

The council also: 

approved the vacation of an unimproved alley off of St. Clair Street  

approved special events permits for a cruise-in on Saturdays from May through October 2021  

–approved a budget adjustment request for $1,740 to purchase social media software to comply with the Open Records Act 

–approved budget adjustment request for $5,658 for cyber insurance for ransomware and equipment coverage  

–approved updates for the job description for concessions manager 

–approved new job description for concession workers 

–approved voting and two alternate delegates for the upcoming Alabama League of Municipalities Convention
