Martha Lorene Lemmond

A graveside funeral service and interment for Martha Lorene Lemmond, 85, were held March 9 at 2 p.m. at Center Springs with Bro. Doug Moody officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.  

Mrs. Lemmond died March 6 at Decatur Morgan Hospital.
She was born Nov. 23, 1935, in Morgan County to Lee Roy Harbison and Flora Marie (Webb) Harbison. She was a homemaker, loving mother and wonderful wife for her husband Willie Joel Lemmond, who preceded her in death.  

Also preceding her in death were her parents; a son, Keith Callaway; brothers Duell Harbison Sr. and Frank Harbison; and a sister, Glenda Wallace.  

Survivors include son Terry Callaway, daughter Barbara Thomas and sister Alice Faye Harbison.
Pallbearers were family and friends. 

Dakota Shayne Tyer

Funeral service for Dakota Shayne Tyer, 15, was held March 13 at 6 p.m. at Calvary Holiness Church with Bro. Corey Morrow officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. 
Dakota passed away March 5 at Huntsville Hospital for Women and Children.  

She was born Jan. 6, 2006, in Jefferson County to Christopher Shane Tyer and Amie Hamilton. Dakota was a sweet girl and a student of Lacey’s Spring/Cotaco School. She will be missed by all who knew her.  

She was preceded in death by her father, Christopher Shane Tyer; her grandmother, Beth Tyer; and Brent Kilpatric.
Survivors include her mother, Amie Hamilton (Jon); brother, Dallas Tyer; sister, Emily Tyer; grandmother, Neda Wiley (Tim); grandfather, Pady Kilpatric; grandfather, Ron Tyer; grandparents, Doug and Sue Hamilton; uncles, Josh Wiley and Josh Hamilton; aunts, Loni Kilpatric and Shannon Tyer (Michael Reynolds); and a host of other aunts, uncles, cousins, great–grandparents, family and friends. 

Gwen McCaffrey

A graveside funeral service for Gwen McCaffrey, 82, was held March 11 at 1 p.m. at Ashland City Cemetery in Ashland, with family saying a few words and Peck Funeral Home directing.  

Mrs. Gwen Cagle Clark McCaffey died March 8 at South Hampton Nursing and Rehab Center. She was born July 24, 1938, in Marshall County to Martin Leonard Cagle and Nellie Neal Sharp Cagle. She was a
homemaker for her family.  

Preceding her in death were her husband and her parents. 

Survivors include daughter Wanda Clark (Jimmy), Somerville; brother, Jimmy Cagle, Waterloo;
grandchildren, Josh Clark (Kayla), Nashville, Tenn., Emily Borden (Daniel), Priceville, Curt Osborn (Nikki), Decatur, and Christopher Osborn, Decatur; six great–grandchildren; and one great–great–grandchild.
Pallbearers were Jimmy Clark, Josh Clark, Curt Osborn, Daniel Borden, Aiden Clark and Elijah Osborn. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests you do a good deed for someone in memory of Gwen. 

Elna Levonne East

Funeral service for Elna Levonne East, 80, was held March 12 at 11 a.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Corey Morrow and Bro. Jerry Hall officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial was in Fields Cemetery. 
Mrs. Elna East passed away peacefully from this life March 9 at her residence, surrounded by her family. She was born June 27, 1940, in Morgan County to Willis Brown and Onnie Lamons Brown.  

She was a lifelong resident of Lacey’s Spring. She was a bus driver for Morgan County Schools for 25 years prior to her retirement. She was married over 64 years and was abundantly blessed with family and loved ones.
She enjoyed working in her flower gardens and cherished all of her animals. She truly had a servant’s heart and loved unconditionally. She will be missed by many. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Willie and Eddis; two sisters, Flora and Lurlene; one son, Jimmy East; one grandson, Aaron Thompson; and one granddaughter, Emerald Yoder. 

Survivors include her husband, Emmett “Clinnon” East; sons, David Adams (Tonya) and Danny Adams (Dana); daughters, Rhonda Thompson, Teresa Hulsey and Carol Amaya (Rick); 11 grandchildren; numerous great–grandchildren; and two great–great-grandchildren. 

Pallbearers will were David Adams, Danny Adams, James East, Blake Jordan, Whit Jordan, Jason Stapler. 

Phillip A. Grigsby

Funeral service for Phillip A. Grigsby, 59, was held March 13 at 3 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Michael Gunter, Bro. Stanley Reeves and Bro. Joe Jones officiating and Peck Funeral Home
directing. Burial was in Bell Springs Cemetery. 
Mr. Grigsby died March 3 at Decatur Morgan Hospital. He was born Dec. 29, 1961, in Morgan County to Gladys Grigsby and Doris Evelyn Maddox Grigsby. He was employed by Grigsby Roofing as a roofer. He loved his church and was a very generous, giving person.  

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Erskine Leon Grigsby; and a sister, Pat Martin. Survivors include sister, Cathy Roden and brothers Jerry Wayne Cleek and Steven Mark Cleek. 

Pallbearers were family and friends. 

Jerry C. Benedict
Priceville

Jerry C. Benedict, 80, of Priceville, died Feb. 27 at his home.
He was born February, 19, 1941, in Tecumseh, Michigan, to Gerald and Opal (Beal) Benedict.  

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Lee Benedict, and his son, Timothy Benedict. 

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Donna (Ivan) Benedict; two daughters, Wendy Wiggins and Jessica (Loyd) Pitts; five grandchildren, Brittany (Wesley) Archer Riley Wiggins, Gunnar Wiggins, Keaton Pitts and Isabella Wiggins; and great-granddaughter, Alexis Archer. 

A memorial service was held March 15 at 11a.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Richard Thompson officiating.

Ola Mae Motes
Somerville

Funeral service for Ola Mae Motes, 90, was held March 12 at noon at New Center Baptist Church with Bro. Charles Williams and Bro. Stanley Reeves officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial was
in New Center Cemetery.  

Mrs. Motes died March 11 at her residence. She was born Jan. 29, 1931, in Morgan County to Thomas Henry Reeves and Susan Elizabeth Dyer Reeves. She was a homemaker for her family, whom she loved dearly. She loved her church, Decatur First Holy Church of Christ. She was affectionately known as “Aunt Mae” to everyone who knew her. 

“Special thanks” are extended to the Hospice of the Valley and her caregivers, Amber Sutherlin, Morgan Ratliff, Mallory Standridge, Emma Ratliff, Sheila Alexander, Cara Standridge and Tara Humphries. 

The family asked that everyone in attendance please follow COVID guidelines. 

Survivors include son Ricky Motes (Bob Lipscomb), Meridianville; daughters, Kathy (Ronny), Decatur, and Connie Reeves (Ronnie), Somerville; daughters-in-love, Pat George (James George), Hartselle, and Brenda Motes, Rogersville; nine grandchildren; 23 great–grandchildren; and nine great–great–grandchildren.
Pallbearers were her grandsons, Tyler Ratliff, Ethan Standridge, Jordan Ratliff, Dakota Cartee, Chris Cartee and Jacob Wilbanks. 

Martha Jean Huffstutler

Funeral service for Martha Jean Huffstutler, 71, was held March 15 at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ellis Wade and the Rev. Harold Coomer officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial was in Lebanon Baptist Cemetery.  

Ms. Huffstutler died March 10 at River City Health & Rehab. She was born Aug. 12, 1949, in Morgan County to James Huffstutler and Laverne Blankenship Huffstutler.  

Ms. Huffstutler was a member of St. Lutheran’s Church. She retired from Domino’s Pizza after 20 years of service. 

She was preceded in death by her parents.  

Survivors include two brothers, Don Huffstutler and Bill Huffstutler. 

Mike Durand 

Hartselle 

Funeral service for Mike Durand, 72, of Hartselle will be March 18 at 3 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jon-Allen Stanley officiating. Burial was in Herring Cemetery. Peck Funeral Home directed.  

Visitation will be March 18 from 1-3 p.m. at the funeral home.  

Mr. Durand was born July 19, 1948, in Morgan County to Russell Eugene Durand and Peggy Jean Dobbs Durand. He passed away March 13 at his residence.  

Mike Durand was the owner of Mike’s Brake and Alignment for more than 30 years. He was a member of the Forest Hill Baptist Church in Somerville. He raced stock cars for 40 years, both locally and regionally, with many wins and championships.  

He was preceded in death by his father and first wife, Beverly Durand. 

Survivors include his wife, Ann Wilson Durand; two sons, Russell Durand (Julie) and Jonathan Durand; mother, Peggy Durand; sister, Beth Shelton (Darrell); 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. 

Pallbearers were Dillon Durand, Alec Durand, Dillon Langford, Seth Brock, William Partlow, and Weston Shelton.

Earline S. Bennett

Funeral service for Earline S. Bennett, 82, of Hartselle was held March 15 at 3 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Michael Gunter officiating. Burial was in Herring Cemetery. Peck Funeral Home directed.  

Mrs. Bennett was born April 6, 1938 in Falkville to Earnest Segar and Bertha Mae Turner Segars.  

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gilbert Bennett; daughter, Annette Floyd; grandson, Joshua Hampton; brother, Fred Segars; and sister, Carrie Mangum.  

She was retired from Copeland Corporation.  

Survivors include her son, Gilbert Bennett (June); daughter, Patricia Bennett; two brothers, Don Segars and Rex Segars; sister, Anna Lee Strough; four grandchildren, Rebecca Perotti, Lacey Harris, Matthew Bennett and Samantha Bennett; and six great-grandchildren.  

Pallbearers were Matthew Bennett, Blake Dozier, Hunter Brooks, Jace Woodruff, Drew Woodruff and James Reeves. 

Patrick Westmoreland II 

Decatur

Funeral service for Patrick Westmoreland II, 29, of Decatur was held March 14 at 3p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Rickey Hughes officiating. Burial was in Midway Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Peck Funeral Home directed. 

He was born Dec. 5, 1991, in Decatur. He passed away March 11 in Trinity.  

Survivors include son, Keegan Jace Westmoreland; mother, Patricia Ann Westmoreland; two brothers, Brandon Morris (Lynn) and Chris Morris; and two sisters, Whitney Westmoreland and Kayla Westmoreland.  

Pallbearers were Anthony Hood, Garland Smith (G.W.), Jason McDonald, Carl Deleo, David McKay and Lance Morris. 

Danielle Michelle Orlando

Funeral service for Danielle Michelle Orlando, 30, of Huntsville was held March 14 at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home. The service began at 1 p.m., with Steve Bateman officiating, John Barber sharing special memories and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial was at Friendship Cemetery in Danville. 

Danielle was born March 26, 1990, in Morgan County to Dominic and Shelby Orlando. Beloved daughter, sister, niece, aunt, cousin and friend, she was a devoted, loving mother and was happiest when she was enjoying nature, caring for animals and doing good deeds for others.  

How do you capture the flutter of butterfly wings, the beauty of God’s rainbow after a rain, the glory of a sunrise or sunset? That was Danielle. Welcoming, giving and full of love, she will be greatly missed by all who knew her.  

Her beautiful memory will live on not only in our hearts but in her sweet daughter’s heart, Rory. 

Left to cherish her memories are husband Jordan Schrimsher; daughter, Aurora (Rory) Rae Schrimsher; mother, Shelby Orlando; father, Dominic Orlando; brother, Mathew Orlando, with wife Olivia and daughter Olive; and her grandparents, the late Tricolo and Emilia Orlando of Detroit, Russell and Hazel Prater of Moulton.  

Pallbearers were Frank Barger, Derick Hallmark, Raymond Orlando, Brandon Prater, Michael Orlando and Joseph Orlando. Honorary pallbearers were Joe Dutton and Ryan Schrimsher.
