Tuesday girls basketball notebook: Lady Tigers get by Lee

The Hartselle Lady Tigers defeated Lee-Huntsville 62-52 in the second round of the Decatur Orthopaedic Clinic Classic Tuesday evening.

Trailing 15-14 after the first quarter, the Lady Tigers outscored Lee 15-7 in the second to take a 29-22 lead at halftime.

The Lady Generals cut the lead to five points, 45-40, heading into the fourth quarter.

Hartselle outscored Lee 17-12 in the final quarter to get the victory.

The Lady Tigers (9-2) were led by Lillyanna Cartee, who finished with 20 points. Masyn Marchbanks had 17 points, while Hailey Holshouser added nine.

Lee-Huntsville was led by Je’Nyiah Silas, who scored a game-high 22 points. Jada Colley added 10 points.

Hartselle will face Fairview, a 55-22 winner over Decatur, in the semifinals at 12 noon.

Cullman 60, Falkville 32

The Lady Blue Devils were defeated by Cullman 60-32 in the West Morgan Christmas Tournament semifinals.

Cullman, leading 14-12 after the first quarter, outscored Falkville 46-20 over the final three quarters to move the Tournament finals.

Jaden Winfrey led all scorers with 23 for Cullman, while Regan Quattlebaum added 12.

Makenzie Veal had 10 points and 12 rebounds to lead Falkville (12-4), with Sydnee Fitzgerald and Ellie Cate Hill adding six points apiece.

Danville 40, Westminster Christian 33

The Lady Hawks, who trailed 25-20 heading to the fourth, outscored Westminster 20-8  for a come-from-behind victory Tuesday afternoon.

Blayne Godfrey led the Lady Hawks (6-6) with 15 points. Brityan Godfrey added another double-double, with 14 points and 12 rebounds. Elisabeth Hand added six points, 10 rebounds, and five steals.

Brianna Tinsley had 14 points to lead Westminster (3-12).

In other games…

Priceville defeated Huffman 56-25 in a game played at Mortimer Jordan.

Fyffe defeated Brewer 48-38 in the second round of the DOC Classic at Decatur High School.
