A Hartselle man was severely injured in a car wreck last week, and now the owners of a local restaurant are doing their part to help him recover.

Steven Isbell was involved in a car accident Dec. 16 that left him with a fractured back, broken femur, broken elbow and broken pelvis. Doctors also had to amputate both of Isbell’s legs, one below the knee and one above, according to friend and owner of Bentley’s, Travis Smith.

“From what I know of the severity of his injuries, he is going to have a very long, rough road ahead of him,” Smith said.

Staring immediately, Smith said donations to benefit the Isbell family can be made at Bentley’s at the Outhouse. The restaurant is located at 200 Main St. W., in downtown Hartselle.

“Over the next several weeks, just as soon as we can, we will set up some bands to hold benefit concerts,” Smith added. All money raised through the concerts, and funds donated, will go directly to the Isbell family.

Smith also began a GoFundMe campaign. As of  Thursday, 86 people had donated $6,085 of its $5,000 goal.

Smith said his business, which he co-owns with his wife, has a large group of regular patrons who have become friends and family through the years.

“We see Steven on a very regular basis. We’re a mom-and-pop business, and there’s a lot of family that goes with that,” Smith said. “When family needs help, you do what you have to do to help them.”
