Fred Wayne Cannady 

Hartselle 

graveside funeral service and interment for Fred Wayne Cannady, 68, were held Nov. 11 at 1 p.m. at Bell Springs Cemetery with Bro. Michael Gunter officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. No
visitation is scheduled. 

Mr. Cannady died Nov. 9 at Decatur Morgan Hospital. 

He was born Dec. 13, 1951, in Morgan County to Roy Melvin Cannady and Vila Lavern Collum Cannady. He was employed by Copeland working in production prior to his retirement. He was a Vietnam War veteran.  

He was preceded in death by his parents. 

Survivors include three brothers, Darrell Allen Cannady, Mickey Ray Cannady and Gary Melvin Cannady (Polly)and partner of 30 yearsDonna Gurliaccio. 

 

George Edsel Foster 

Hartselle 

Funeral service for George Edsel Foster, 77, was held Nov. 12 at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Greg Barbee officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial was in Mt. Tabor Cemetery. 

Mr. Foster died Nov. 9 at Decatur Morgan Hospital. He was born Aug. 1, 1943, in Limestone County to George H. Foster and Ruby Dale Lovell Foster. He was employed as a police officer for the Hartselle
Police Department prior to his retirement and was a United States Army veteran.  

Preceding him in death were his wife, Linda Faye Foster; a daughterCrisandria Foster; two brothersRoger Foster and Kenneth Foster; a sisterJan Foster; and his parents. 

Survivors include one son, Kenny Foster (Kayte); two daughters, Sonja Whisman (Matt) and Holly Douglas (Will); four grandchildren, Ashley Grantland, Karlee Allen, Brittany Whisman and Matthew Whisman; one greatgrandchild, Emmit Allen; and a long line of extended family. 

Pallbearers were Kenny Foster, Matt Whisman Sr., Matthew Whisman Jr., Will Douglas, Camron Williams and Kevin Douglas. 

 

Lee Ree Tolbert Hall 

Hartselle 

Funeral service for Lee Ree Tolbert Hall, 85, was held Nov. 13 at 11 a.m. at Patillo Street Church of God with the Rev. Tim Herron officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial was in Mt. Tabor Cemetery. 

Mrs. Hall died Nov. 11 at Summerford Nursing Home. She was born April 12, 1935, in Morgan County to Felton Lee Hanners and Vinnie Mae Yeager Hanners. She was a devoted Christian and a long-time member of the Pattillo Street Church of God. She was employed by Kroger in the produce department prior to her retirement. 

Mrs. Hall never met a stranger, loved talking to people and enjoyed helping people. She loved to cook and bake for her family and was a loving mother and grandmother. 

Preceding her in death were two husbandsJames Tolbert and Horace Hallthree brothers; Bobby, Buel and Frank; and her parents. 

Survivors include son Ricky Tolbert (Syrhonda); two daughters, Pam Tepples (Donnie) and Theresa Marlin; two step-daughters, Lisa Hall and Renee Lambert (J.P.); five grandchildren; and 10 greatgrandchildren. 

 

Muriel Sue Holmes 

Falkville 

Funeral service for Muriel Sue Holmes, 86, was held Nov. 13 at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Aaron Dawson officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial was in Ebenezer Cemetery in Morgan County.  

Mrs. Holmes died Nov. 9 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. She was born April 11, 1934, in Morgan County to W.A. McNalley and Sally Holmes McNalley. She was a homemaker for her family and a loving
wife, mother and grandmother.  

She was preceded in death by her husbandTroy K. Holmes; a son, Tim Holmes; and her parents. 

Survivors include two sons, Anthony Holmes and Tony Holmes (Jeanie); one sister, Ruth Houstontwo grandchildrenCrystal Holmes Johnson and Coty Holmes; and three greatgrandchildrenAvery and Cameron Johnson and Madison HolmesPallbearers were family and friends. 

 

Caryl Jean Ward Littrell 

Hartselle 

Nov. 10, Caryl Littrell transitioned from this life into the arms of her Heavenly Father, surrounded by her loving family and closest friends. 

Caryl was an adventurous soul, and the mark of her life was love. She loved both God and people fiercely. Her greatest treasures were her four childrenLisa, Greg, Kelly and Zachry, and her four grandchildren, William Littrell, James Kelly Littrell, Celia Littrell and Shelly Littrell.  

Caryl considered loving her family extravagantly her highest calling. She was adored by her family and endeared by the titles of “Mother,” “My Mama,” “Momma Dog Dog,” Grandmommy,” “Sennora (Little Princess)” and “Mrs. Lit. She not only loved her family well, she was a faithful friend, confidante, adopted mom to many, mentor, excellent cook, role model, hostess, decorator and lover of souls. 

Caryl was a successful entrepreneur, boss and leader in both her community and in the Body of Christ. She had a gift for breathing life and encouragement into everyone she met.  

Caryl was a giver and wanted everyone to feel special and loved. She constantly found needs and met them without making a public display of her acts of kindness. Many families were lovingly supported during tough times and on holidays because of her generous and caring heart. She was a champion among women. 

Caryl Littrell was proceeded in death by her parents, James Zachry and Thelma Dabbs Ward; her sibling, Miriam Ward Pyron; and her two precious sonsKelly and Greg. Left behind remains her daughter, Lisa Lee Littrell and her son, Zachry Heflin Littrell and wife Stephanie Kifer and daughters Celia and
Shelly, as well as Greg’s sons, William Bradley and James Kelly Littrell. 

Caryl lived a beautiful life, and her presence made the world a better place. She is now healed and whole in the presence of her Savior. 

There was a Celebration of Life graveside service Nov. 12 at 2:30 p.m. at Moulton Municipal Cemetery, Main Street, Moulton, with pastors Less and B. Kay Jones officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to New Song Family Church, 4309 Highway 31 S., Decatur, AL 35603 or Cullman Regional Hospice Services, 1938 Highway 157, #102, Cullman, AL 35058. 

 

Phyllis Jean Holz Lester 

Falkville 

Funeral service for Phyllis Jean Holz Lester, 91, will be Nov. 21 at 2 p.m. at Winterrowd Funeral Home in Streator, Illinois, with the Rev. Noel Maughmer officiating. Burial is in Long Point Cemetery in Long Point, Illinois. Visitation iNov. 21 from 12:30p.m. at Winterrowd Funeral Home.
Mrs. Lester died Nov. 10 at Summerford Nursing Home.
She was born July 7, 1929, in Illinois to Herbert Holz and Mildred Ramme Holz. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Hartselle and was a homemaker and a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Irwin Lester; her parents; two sisters, Norma Ott and Leona Fargher; one brother, Harold Holz; a nieceDiana Snyder; and her stepmother, Minnie Kutter Holz. Survivors include one daughterPatricia Svetz (James), Hartselle; one son, David Lester (Joy), Bolivar, Tennessee; three grandchildrenMonica Shannon, Decatur, Marcy Murphy, Castle Rock, Colorado,
and Nathan Lester, Acken, South Carolina; three greatgrandchildrenChristian Murphy, Aidan Shannon and Rylee Lester; one sister, Marge Shaw (Lyle), Washington, Illinois; and one brotherHerb Holz (Helen), Americon, Illinois.

Edith Dudley Whitfield 

Huntsville 

Funeral service for Edith Dudley Whitfield, 76, was held Nov. 14 at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Ralph Henderson officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial was in Valhermoso Holiness Cemetery. 

Mrs. Whitfield died Nov. 11 at Crestwood Medical Center. She was born Nov. 18, 1943, in Morgan County to Thomas Dudley and Mable Dean Dudley. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and greatgrandmother who devoted her life to her family. She was an LPN working for Parker Hannifan prior to her retirement.  

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Jeff Scott; four brothers, W.T. Dudley, Harlon Dudley,
George Dudley and Robert Dudley; and two sisters, Aliene Dudley and Christine West. 

Survivors include her husbandBrian Whitfield; one daughter, Robin Brand; one brother, Justin Dudley, (Betty); four grandchildren, Sidney Pritchard, (Daniel), Austin Scott, (Paige), Kolton Mooney and Karlee Mooney; one greatgrandson, Maverick Pritchard; and a host of nieces and nephews. 

Pallbearers were Robert Dudley, Austin Scott, Marty Dudley, Daniel Pritchard, Rickey Mooney and Eddie Peden. 

 

Johnny Baccus Burnett Jr. 

Hartselle 

Funeral service for Johnny Baccus Burnett Jr., 64, was held Nov. 16 at 1:30 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Billy Cagle officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial was in Winston Memorial Cemetery. 

Mr. Burnett died Nov. 12 at Huntsville Hospital. He was born Dec. 29, 1955, in Winston County to John Baccus Burnett Sr. and Ivan Hyde Dodd Burnett. He was employed by General Motors as a production worker for 30 years prior to his retirement.  

He was a member of the Morgan County Disaster Relief Team, a member of the Bankhead Amateur Radio Club and a member of the Danville Baptist Church.  

He was preceded in death by his parents. 

Survivors include his wifeBetty Bonner Burnett, Hartselle; one son, John Bently Burnett, Bowling Green, Ky.; one sister, Kamlyn Thomas, Haleyville; and one nephewShane Thomas, Haleyville.
Pallbearers were Dennis Vinson, Darrell Harris, Jeremy Legg, Ken Garner, Mark Converse and Dennis Terry. 

 

Louise Woodard Campbell 

Decatur 

A graveside service for Louise Woodard Campbell, 97, of Decatur was held at 1 p.m. Nov. 16 at Eva Cemetery with Bro. Justin McAlpin officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. 

Mrs. Campbell was born Nov. 29, 1922 in Morgan County to William Charlie Wray and Julia Anne Lamon Wray. She passed away Nov. 12 in Madison. She was a lifelong member of Eva Methodist Church. She was devout Christian, doing anything for her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ from teaching Sunday School or Vacation Bible School to cleaning the church. She enjoyed hearing other people’s opinions on theology and scripture. 

She was preceded in death by husbands Talmous E. Woodard, with whom she had six children, and James T. Campbell; one very special daughter, Reeta Sue Woodard, whom she loved very much and was the sunshine of her life; eight brothers and sisters; and grandchildren Bill Woodard and Amanda Woodard. 

She is survived by her children Eugene Woodard (Nora) of Decatur, Judy McDonald (Jimmy) of Elberton, Georgia, Billy Woodard (Mary) of Angier, North Carolina, Howard Woodard (Linda) of Redmond, Washington, and Regenia Pepper (Jerry) of Decatur; and a host of grandchildren and greatgrandchildren. 

 

Robert Wayne Wilhite Sr. 

Falkville 

Graveside service for Robert Wayne Wilhite Sr., 71, of Falkville will be Nov. 18 at 2:30 p.m. at Roundtop Cemetery with Peck Funeral Home directing. No visitation is planned. 

Mr. Wilhite, who was born Jan. 16, 1949, in Decatur to Robert Franklin Wilhite and Lola Robertson Wilhite, died Nov. 14 at UAB Medical Center in Birmingham. He was a logger and loved to work cutting logs. He was preceded in death by a son, R.W. Wilhite. 

He is survived by his wife, Miranda Wilhite; four sons, Robert Wayne Wilhite Jr., Donnie Cannon, Michael Cannon and Bradley Wilhite; three daughters, Carol Wilhite Vance, Doris Marie Wilhite and Robbie Sue Wilhite; one brother, Frank Eugene Wilhite; a sister, Emma Jean Lee; 17 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. 

Donnie Cannon, Michael Cannon, Bradley Wilhite, Justin Wilhite, Ty McLeod, Jason Anders, Brownie Adkins and Isaiah Morgan will serve as pallbearers. 

 

Mable Frances Neighbors 

Decatur 

Graveside service for Mable Frances Neighbors, 89, of Decatur was held Nov. 16 at 2 p.m. at the Hartselle City Cemetery with Peck Funeral Home directing. No visitation is planned. 

Mrs. Neighbors, who was born April 26, 1931 in Centerville to Wilson and Mary Frances Weaver, died Nov. 13 at her home. She was a member of the Hartselle First Baptist Church, enjoyed doing yardwork and was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Bennie Neighbors. 

She is survived by a son, Jim Neighbors of Decatur. 

 

Freddie Haley 

Hartselle 

Funeral service for Freddie Haley, 77, of Hartselle will be Nov. 18 at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Don Smith officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the funeral home. 

Mr. Haley, who was born May 5, 1943, in Lawrence County to Wallace Haley and Autie Frederick Haley, died Nov. 14 at Huntsville Hospital. Mr. Haley retired from the 3M Company, where he worked as the maintenance supervisor. He loved to hunt and fish and was a former member of the Hartselle Tiger Athletic Booster Club.  

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sons, Danny Haley and Bobby Hall. 

He is survived by his wife, Wanda Haley; children, David Haley (Teresa), Darryl Haley, Marshall Hall (Joy), Mark Hall (Tracy), Tammy Bonsall (Jeff) and Stone Reparskytwo brothers, Carlton Haley and Dale Haley, and a sister, June Maxwell; 14 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. 

Jason Haley, Jon Haley, Tyler Haley, Stone Reparsky, Justin West and Micah Johnson will serve as pallbearers.
