Hartselle High School announces health, safety plan for basketball season

Hartselle High School recently announced its health and safety plan for the upcoming basketball and wrestling seasons.

The plan complies with recent guidance from the Alabama Department of Public Health, the Alabama State Department of Education, and the Alabama High School Athletic Association.

The plan is designed to mitigate the spread of COVID-19. The current health order from the ADPH states:

“Spectators are allowed to attend athletic events, but attendance at events should be reduced significantly so that spectators are not within 6 feet of someone from another household, and spectators shall wear a mask or other facial covering at all times while within 6 feet of a person from another household.”

According to HCS, the new plan is to limit large crowds per the state order and ensure those in attendance are doing as much as possible to avoid the spread of COVID-19. Attendance will be limited to 50 percent capacity.

Under the plan, spectators who enter the facility must wear a mask and maintain a distancing of feet between family groups. Individuals not in compliance may be asked to leave the facility. Spectators should also self-screen before attending events, and anyone who exhibits symptoms or is under quarantine should not attend.

Spectators must enter the gym from the top of the bleachers. To ensure spectators do not sit within 6 feet of the playing surface, a portion of the bleachers will be closed off near the players benches.

Students in the student section will be required to wear masks and social distance as much as possible. Any student not adhering to the state health order will be asked to leave the facility.

Concessions will be served at each home contest.

Contests will be live-streamed on the Hartselle Tiger NFHS Network Page. A subscription is required.

TICKETS

Hartselle High School will use digital ticketing for all events. Fans must pre-purchase tickets online at GoFan.co before entering the facility. Tickets purchases are final and will not be refunded unless the event is canceled.

Capacity at events will be limited, so tickets will be sold on a first-come, first-serve basis. AHSAA passes, Hartselle Senior Citizen Cards, All Sport Passes, and reserve seat passes will be the only passes accepted.
