Charles “Chet” Murphree Jr.

Funeral service for Charles “Chet” Murphree Jr., 59, was held Oct. 28 at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Preston Headrick officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial was in Hartselle City Cemetery.
Mr. Murphree died Oct. 24 at his residence. He was born May 8, 1961, in Morgan County to Charles Leroy Murphree and Elizabeth Ann Sample. Mr. Murphree was a graduate of Decatur High School and of UAH. He was the president and general manager of Deer Valley Homebuilders, of which he was one of the original founders, and he also served on the Board of Directors.
He was Person of the Year for the Alabama Manufactured Housing Commission in 2015. He was inducted into the Alabama Manufactured Housing Industry Hall of Fame in 2017. He served on the Alabama State Board for Manufactured Housing and on the board for the Alabama Housing Foundation. He also served on the Board of Real Party Ministries.
He was preceded in death by two daughters, Kendall Page Murphree and Kelsey Graham Murphree.
Survivors include his wife, Lisa Graham Murphree; one daughter, Carly Sample Murphree; father Charles Leroy Murphree (Sue); mother Elizabeth Ann Hensley (Richard); four brothers, Atlee Murphree, Van Murphree, Jimmy Moore (Amy) and Trey Herring; and five sisters, Lila Murphree (Cindy Small), Debbie Moore Kennemer (Jay), Donna Moore Lee, Kim Herring Dodd (Tom) and Stacy Herring Kwapiszewski.
Pallbearers were Gerald Newsom, Joey Aycock, Keith Holdbrooks, Steve Lawler, Ray Cooper and Jimmy Moore.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to Real Party Ministry, P.O. Box 2302, Hamilton, AL 35570. The family requests that everyone adheres to the COVID-19 guidelines and wear masks.

Graveside service and interment were held for Bonnie Hayes, of Hartselle, at Ryan Baptist Church in Montevallo Oct. 31 at 11 a.m.
Christy Barnett

Funeral service for Christy Barnett, 43, was held Oct. 29 at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Virgil Crisp officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial was in Hartselle City Cemetery.
Mrs. Barnett died Oct. 26 at her residence. She was born June 15, 1977, in Morgan County to Edward Lorenzia Baker and Jennifer Pearl Woodall Baker. She was employed doing custodial work for the Morgan County School System at Sparkman School. She was a wonderful wife and mother.
Preceding her in death were her parents and a niece, Brianna Lewis, who was like a daughter to her.
Survivors include her husband, Randall R. Barnett; two daughters, Lesley Paige Barnett and Amber Nicole Barnett; and one brother, Eddie L. Baker Jr. (Kim).
Pallbearers were Matthew Barnett, Dylan Burgett, Kody Sterling, Cole, Steele, Raylon Barnett and John Morgan.
Sophia Steele
Falkville
Funeral service for Sophia Steele, 82, was held Oct. 30 at 3 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Milan Dekich officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial was in Mt. Zion Cemetery in Cullman
County.
Mrs. Steele died Oct. 27 at Huntsville Hospital. She was born May 16, 1938, in Cullman County to Gordon G. Carroll and Ruth Arminda Cornelius Carroll.
Prior to her retirement, she was a veteran of the United States Air Force before being a registered nurse for Hartselle Medical Center.
Preceding her in death were her husband, William Steele; her parents; two brothers, Garlan Carroll and Grover Carroll; and a daughter-in-law, Anita Steele.
Survivors include two sons, Wendell Steele and Bill Steele (Charlotte); one sister, Betty Leathers; five grandchildren, Nathan Steele, Elizabeth Steele, Thomas Steele, Kelly Steele and Karen Dollar (Jacob); and three great–grandchildren, Caiden Barfield, Caleb Barfield and Preston Spano.
Pallbearers were family and friends.
Laverne “Shorty” Lemmond
Hartselle
Funeral service for Laverne “Shorty” Lemmond, 91, was held Oct. 30 at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Frank Bedford and Bro. Neal Fowler officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial was in Gum Springs Cemetery.
Mrs. Lemmond died Oct. 27. She was born May 16, 1929, in Morgan County to Robert Clearnce Hardy and Esther Norene Hardy. She was employed by the Morgan County School System as a bus driver. She was a member of the Oak Park Church of God.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Marcus Paul Lemmond; her parents; a brother, Oneal Hardy; and a sister, Yetalee McCutcheon.
Survivors include three daughters, Kathy Lemmond Cagle, Trinity, Levada Lemmond Knox, Hartselle, and Paulette Lemmond Lang, Vinemont; two sons, Larry Lemmond, Hartselle, and Gary Lemmond; five sisters, Bobby Taylor, Somerville, Frances Reeves, Somerville, Sue Cook, Somerville, Elayne Clark, Somerville, and Faye Blankenship, Decatur; 10 grandchildren; 14 great–grandchildren; and two great–great–grandchildren.
Pallbearers were grandsons Michael Knox, Chris Lang and Randle Cagle and great–grandsons Trey Mathis, Cody Tapscott and C.J. Lang. Honorary pallbearers were Brody Tapsott, Grant Lang, Griff Knox and Hunter Mathis.
Calvin Coolidge Brewer

A graveside funeral service and interment for Calvin Coolidge Brewer, 96, was held Oct. 31 at 10:30 a.m. at Mt. Zion with Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial was in Mt. Zion Cemetery.
Mr. Brewer died Oct. 28 at Decatur Morgan Hospital. He was born Aug. 30, 1924, in Lawrence County. He was employed by Goodyear as a supervisor prior to his retirement. He was a member of the
Gum Springs Baptist Church and of the American Legion.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lousie Brewer, and his parents.
Survivors include one son, Larry Brewer, (Judy); two grandchildren, Dwight Brewer (Rachel) and
Mary Travers (Jon); and three great–grandchildren, Olivia Travers, Alana Travers and Kiersten Brewer.
Regina Moore Stinson
Hartselle
Funeral service for Regina Moore Stinson, 58, was held Nov. 2 at 1 p.m. at New Center Baptist Church with Bro. Ben Bates and Bro. John Tucker officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial was in
New Center Cemetery.
Mrs. Stinson passed away Oct. 30 at her residence. She was born Nov. 20, 1961, in Morgan County to Kenneth Moore and C.L. Blankenship Moore.
Regina was an active member of New Center Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. She loved singing, being a member of the choir. She helped start the children’s church and was instrumental in starting the church library.
She was a substitute teacher at Sparkman Elementary School and Decatur City Schools, was a member of S.A.V.E.S and was a former EMT.
Regina loved her family dearly, especially her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father, Kenneth Moore. Survivors include her husband, John Lewis Stinson; one son, John Tyler Stinson (Allie); one daughter, Kristi Lynne Graham (Mike); her mother, C.L. Blankenship Moore; one brother, Kenneth Scott Moore (Melissa); one sister, Deborah Faye Hoenig (Eddie); and seven grandchildren, Madygael, Olivia, Jace, Makayla, McKinley, Michael and Maggie.
Pallbearers were Ryan Halbrooks, Kent King, Jonathan Sharp, Gary Blankenship, Michael Graham and Wayne Brown.
Ronald Davis Burnett

Funeral service for Ronald Davis Burnett, 76, was held Nov. 2 at 3 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Brian Wilbanks officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial was in Hartselle City Cemetery.
Mr. Burnett died Oct. 30 at his residence. He was born April 16, 1944, in Morgan County to Henry Davis Burnett and Earline Staggs Burnett. He was employed as a diesel mechanic for Decatur Transit prior to his retirement.
He was married to his wonderful wife, Judy Goad Burnett, for 52 years.
He was preceded by one grandson, Brandon Burnett, and his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Judy Burnett, Hartselle; two sons, Mark Burnett, Hartselle, and Jerry Burnett (Jenny), Cadwell, Ga., one brother, Jerry Burnett, Hartselle; one sister, Mary Casillo, Illinois; eight grandchildren, Caleb Burnett, Christian Burnett, Randall Burnett, Joey Burnett, Holly Burnett, Aspen Burnett, Jarrett Burnett and Davey Burnett; and three great–grandchildren, Allison Burnett, Lucas Burnett and Eliza Burnett.
Pallbearers were Jeremiah Meherg, Dquan Sharpley, Jordan Sharpley, Daniel Goad, Jarrett Burnett and Davey Burnett.
Patricia Gail Hankins

Funeral service for Patricia Gail Hankins, 62, of Baileyton was held Nov. 2 at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home with Pastor Jeff Mims officiating. Burial was at Hartselle Memory Gardens.
Mrs. Hankins died Oct. 31 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. She was born on March 20, 1958 in Morgan County to Wilton Hankins and Christine Holmes Hankins. Mrs. Hankins was preceded in death by her father; brother, Leon Hankins; and stepson, Joshua Hankins.
Survivor include her husband, Jerry Hankins; son Jay Morgan (Debbie); daughter Deanna Carol Davis (Jeff); mother Christine Hankins; sister Linda Hankins; stepson Dustin Stricklan; stepdaughter Jody Hankins; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; and one step-great-grandchild. Pallbearers were family.
Ashley Nicole “Nikki” Stout

Mrs. Stout died Oct. 30. She was born March 28, 1996, in Morgan County to Michael Herbert Stout and Deborah Richardson Stout.
Survivors include her husband, Alfredo Miguel; son, Devyn Stout; mother, Deborah Richardson Stout; father, Michael Herbert Stout; brother, Christopher Dale Stout; sister, Tonya Shiva (Naren); nephew, Eshan Shiva; and grandparents Peggy and Donald Willard.

Bessie Cole Byrd

Funeral service for Bessie Cole Byrd, 87, was held Nov. 3 at 1 p.m. at Salem United Methodist Church with Bro. Harold Thompson officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial was in Salem Cemetery.
Mrs. Byrd died Oct. 31 at Mobile Nursing Center. She was born April 13, 1933, in Morgan County to Walter L. Cole and Sallie Cowan Cole. She was employed by Fly Manufacturing as a factory worker prior to her retirement.
She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Troy Byrd; her parents; a son, Harold Byrd; a daughter, Montrisha Byrd; and four brothers, Hollis Cole, Lawrence Cole, Oakley Cole and W.L. Cole.
Survivors include son Karl Byrd (Martha Jo); daughters, Monica Byrd and Lisa Jackson (Jimmy); sister Freeda Adams; four grandchildren; 12 great–grandchildren; and two great–great–grandchildren. Pallbearers were grandsons and great-grandsons.
