Lee Lott Power of Pink walk goes virtual
Editor’s note: An incorrect article with information from the 2019 Lee Lott Power of Pink walk was published in last week’s Enquirer. This year, the walk that raises money for breast cancer research through the Decatur Morgan Hospital Foundation will be virtual and will be held throughout the month of October. We regret the error.
This year’s Decatur Morgan Hospital (DMH) Power of Pink Walk is going virtual. Instead of gathering and walking together on one specific day, participants are asked to walk alone or socially distanced with friends, family or a team throughout the month of October. Participants are also encouraged to put on your Power of Pink I Walk the Walk t-shirt and hit the trails, sidewalks, treadmills or parks. Take a selfie in your Power of Pink I Walk the Walk t-shirt and post to your favorite social media platform using #dmhWalktheWalk. Participants can tell everyone why, how and for whom you walk the walk. Walk in honor or memory of a loved one, walk for your health, and walk to raise money. Participants can ask family and friends to sponsor them by the mile (or the step) – get creative!
At the end of October, the DMH Foundation will present the Lee Lott Spirit Award to an individual or team that exemplifies unrelenting passion to promote and spread breast cancer awareness and Power of Pink. Success in fundraising, creative social media posts, tags, likes and shares will be considered when selecting the Lee Lott Spirit Award recipient. All proceeds will be used to improve breast health services at DMH and to ensure that all women in our community have access to care and awesome technology regardless of ability to pay.
