Girl Scouts welcomes new members
Special to the Enquirer
Though much of the school year looks different for children across Alabama this fall, Girl Scouting is still around – and new members are welcome.
The Girl Scouts of North-Central Alabama invites parents and guardians of girls from kindergarten through seniors in high school to look at how Girl Scouting can supercharge their girls’ confidence, now and throughout life.
According to the organization, studies show Girl Scouts improves girls’ confidence and makes them better prepared for life’s challenges, and resilience is a skill girls need now more than ever. Girl Scouts is dedicated to helping girls follow their dreams while discovering new interests, strengths and abilities.
Girls across Alabama enjoy Girl Scouts because they can pursue their own passions. Right now, Girl Scouts are learning about robots, hiking, painting murals, feeding the hungry and even writing laws.
Girl Scouts of North-Central Alabama events have also pivoted – allowing girls opportunities to earn badges, get outdoors, and serve their communities in a variety of in-person and virtual ways.
Membership dues are $25 annually, and financial aid is available. To learn more, find an existing troop, start a new troop or view upcoming Discover Girl Scout parties, visit www.girlscoutsnca.org.
About Girl Scouts of North-Central Alabama
We’re over 13,800 strong—close to 10,000 girls and over 3,900 adults in 36 counties in the state of Alabama who believe in the power of every G.I.R.L. (Go-getter, Innovator, Risk-taker, and Leader) to change the world. Our extraordinary journey began more than 100 years ago with the original G.I.R.L., Juliette Gordon “Daisy” Low. On March 12, 1912, in Savannah, Georgia, she organized the very first Girl Scout troop, and every year since, we’ve honored her vision and legacy, building girls of courage, confidence, and character who make the world a better place. We’re the preeminent leadership development organization for girls and offer every girl a chance to practice a lifetime of leadership, adventure, and success. Girl Scouts of North-Central Alabama is a United Way partner. To volunteer, reconnect, donate, or join, visit www.girlscoutsnca.org or call 800-734-4541.
