James F. White 

Hartselle 

Funeral service for James F. White, 82, was held Sept. 17 at noon at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Carl Smith officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial was in Hartselle Memory Gardens. 

Mr. White died Sept. 10 at Decatur Morgan Hospital. He was born July 12, 1938, in Baldwin County to David F. White and Elizabeth Wallace White. He was employed as a building inspector for Baldwin County for 20 years prior to his retirement. Mr. White was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Berlin Crisis and stationed in Germany. He served from 1962 to Dec. 31, 1967, and was honored and proud to serve his country. He was a member of the Durant Chapel Baptist Church. 

His parents preceded him in death.  

Survivors include his wife, Ernestine White; one daughter, Lisa Buckley (Frank); one brother, Paul W. White (Lois); two grandchildren, Emma and Caroline; and several nieces and nephews. 

Ray Henderson 

Somerville 

Mr. Ray Henderson died Sept. 14 at his residence. He was born Dec. 24, 1964, in Morgan County to Jimmie Ray Henderson Sr. and Ruby Jay Gilliland Henderson. He was employed by Maaco, doing auto body repair work.  

Survivors include his son, Eddie Ray Henderson, and his father, Jimmie Ray Henderson Sr., both of Somerville. No services are scheduled at this time. 

Abaleen Rose Turner Edmonson 

Birmingham 

A graveside funeral service and interment for Abaleen Rose Turner Edmonson, 74, were held Sept. 16 at 2 p.m. at Somerville Church of God with Bro. Tony Weiger officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial was in Somerville Church of God Cemetery.  

Mrs. Edmonson died Sept. 13 at her residence. She was born Nov. 8, 1945, in Morgan County to Ovie Mae Turner and Nellie Mildred Winton Turner. She was the owner of Edmonson Beauty Supply. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother.  

She was preceded in death by her parents.  

Survivors include her husband, Howard Edmonson; two sons, Clayton Edmonson (Brenda) and David Taylor (Tina); three daughters, Paula Graham (Scott), Carol Sherman (James) and Patsy Florencio (Recio); one sister, Vanessa Turner; nine grandchildren, Destiny Lansdell, Case Graham, Hunter Sherman, Sarah Sherman, Tim Taylor, Tiffany Taylor, Tabetha Taylor, Angelina Florencio and Noah Florencio; and four great–grandchildren. Pallbearers were family and friends. 

Johness Barbara Franklin Swindle 

Decatur 

Mrs. Johness Barbara Franklin Swindle died Sept. 9 at her residence. She was born June 22, 1949, in Morgan County to Bryant Joe Franklin and Mary Lou Herdon Franklin. She was self-employed, building furniture.  

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Ricky Swindle; her parents; a daughter, Joyce Renee Swindle Stewart; two brothers, Calvin Franklin and Ray Franklin; and two sisters, Martina King and Gail Jones.
Survivors include one daughter, Tessa Swindle (Lee Morris); one brother, Joe Franklin; one sister, Judy Schell (Chris); and three grandchildren, Michele Swindle, Danielle Bell and Destiny Stewart.  

A graveside memorial service and interment were held in Roselawn Cemetery Sept. 19 at 2 p.m. 

Carolyn Malone
Laceys Spring 

A Celebration of Life service for Carolyn Malone, 74, was held Sept. 19 at 4 p.m. at Ditto Landing at the Pavilion, with Dr. Charles Owens officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.  

Mrs. Malone passed away Sept. 15 at Crestwood Medical Center. She was born March 26, 1946, in Morgan County to Roy Lee Johnson and Elsa Odale Payne Johnson. She was employed as a secretary for GNS Automotive prior to her retirement.  

Her parents preceded her in death. 

Survivors include her husband, Gene Malone; one son, Stephen Malone (Peggy); one daughter, Genia Malone; two sisters, Patricia Madewell and Ocie Madewell (Farley); two grandchildren, Alyssa Serda (Hunter) and Rustyn Malone; and a great–grandchild, Aurora Serda. 

Linda Jo Horne 

Trinity 

Funeral service for Linda Jo Horne, 73, was held Sept. 19 at 11 a.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Walter Blackman officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial was in Hartselle City Cemetery. 

Mrs. Horne died Sept. 16 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She was born Oct. 1, 1946, in Lawrence County to Ernest Leon Slaton Sr. and Hazel Louise Sutton Slaton. She was a member of the VFW and the American Legion, where she enjoyed volunteering, especially raising money for their kids’ programs. She was formerly employed and retired from the City of Chicago School System as a bus aide. 

Preceding her in death were her husband, Bobby Horne; her parents; and a brother, Ernest Leon Slaton Jr.  

Survivors include two sons, Jeff Smith (Pam) and Eddie Smith; two sisters, Carolyn Jean Krutchmeyer (Doug) and Martha Waddell; and three grandchildren, Megan Smith, Zachery Smith and Haley Rivera (Raymond).  

Pallbearers were Greg Morris, Ernie Slaton, Chris Dutton, Zachery Smith, Doug Krutchmeyer and Johnny Beard. 

Nadine Hastings Callaway 

Hartselle 

Funeral service for Nadine Hastings Callaway, 89, of Hartselle was held Sept. 21 at noon at Hartselle Church of Christ with Phillip Hines officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial was in Hartselle City Cemetery.  

Mrs. Callaway, who died Sept. 19, was born Jan. 1, 1931, in Limestone County to Paul Clifford Hastings and Irene Thomas Hastings. Mrs. Callaway was a member of Hartselle Church of Christ, where she was a Sunday school teacher and an elder’s wife. She was an office manager at Maison Morgan in Hartselle and vice president of AFC Plastics in Huntsville.  

Mrs. Callaway was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Benjamin Callaway Jr.; her parents; one brother, Robert Thomas Hastings; and one sister, Jo Ann Hastings Dale. 

Survivors include one son, John Callaway of Huntsville; two daughters, Lisa Callaway Holmes and husband Glenn Holmes of Falkville and Nancy Callaway Thomas and husband Luke Thomas of Decatur; seven grandchildren and 15 great–grandchildren. 

Pallbearers were John Callaway, Glenn Holmes, Luke Thomas, Zackery Holmes, Brandon Thomas and Tripp Callaway.
