Falkville Police Department welcomes two new police officers
Falkville Police Department is excited to announce two newly sworn–in police officers: Markus Solomon and Skylar Thomas. Both were sworn in earlier this month at the Falkville Town Council meeting.
Falkville received a COPS – Community Oriented Policing Services – grant, which is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Justice. The COPS grant is a three–year award for two officers, with the town matching 25 percent for their salary and benefits.
Congratulations, Skylar Thomas and Markus Solomon.
Danville-Neel Elementary School Homecoming
Danville-Neel Elementary School is holding Homecoming activities Sept. 14–18.
Monday the kids got to wear crazy hair or crazy socks or create their own crazy outfit. Tuesday was “matchy matchy” day, in which they got to match their friends and or teachers with their outfits.
Wednesday will be remote day, perfect for Pajama Day.
Thursday will be wild wilderness day. The kids can dress up in their traditional or colored camo; as a favorite animal; or in their coolest animal print.
Friday will be School Spirit Day, and the kids can wear purple and white, jerseys, Hawks gear or a homecoming T-shirt.
I hope everyone enjoys a fun–filled Homecoming Week.
Thank you, Falkville Volunteer Fire Department
A special thank you goes out this week to the Falkville Volunteer Fire Department firefighters for all of your time you have given up for others.
All of you are appreciated for your service to the community.
During the month of August, the Falkville Fire Department received 61 calls: 31 for EMS, 11 for fire, 14 for MVC, three for weather and two others.
All of the Falkville volunteer firefighters sacrifice much of their time to serve their community. Through hard work and dedication, Falkville volunteers responded to 91 percent of the calls.
Thank you and God bless all of our volunteer firefighters.
