Prayer Vigil attendees gather at the event held in 2016.

Unity Prayer Vigil scheduled for Friday night

George Hearring believes prayer changes people and situations. His belief in the power of prayer is why he has coordinated the fifth annual Unity Prayer Vigil that will be held Friday night at 5 p.m. at Sparkman Civic Center.

The event, according to Hearring, will also double as a time to remember the tragedy that struck America on the morning of September 11, 2001.

“We will pray for mankind, everlasting peace, love of people like and unlike us and unity of the family structure,” Hearring said. “All people need prayer – especially our national, state and local leaders.

“Our Armed Forces, veterans, retirees from all walks of life, volunteers, educators, bus drivers, law enforcement, first responders, clergy, churches, the poor, the sick and our children will all be lifted in prayer.”

Hearring said the event is about the glory of God.

“Let us break out of our comfort zones and join others that are not like us and send praises in one accord,” he said.

To mitigate the risk of the spread of COVID-19, social distancing and facial coverings will be required.

Sparkman Civic Center is located at 406 Nance Ford Road in Hartselle.
