TitleVampire Academy

Author: Richelle Mead

Interest Level: Teen/Young Adult

Vampire Academy is a teen supernatural romance and thriller. The book follows the exciting lives of Rose Hathaway and her best friend Lissa Dragomir

Both teens attend a special school for the Moroi and Dhampir called St. Vladimir’s Academy. A year ago, the girls fled from the school because of an unknown threat to Lissa

However, the Academy wasn’t going to leave Princess Lissa Dragomir and her guardian-in-training best friend alone. The girls are captured and returned to the school.

Back at school, the unknown threat appears again and is more persistent than before. However, the girls are ready to fight the threat while also trying to be normal teenage girls. The girls experience loss, romance and more after their return to school.

Throughout the book, the girls learn to lean on each other to face the challenges they face. They both learn they need each other if they want to survive the school year.

The twists and turns the book takes only makes their sister-like bond stronger. Even the introduction of love interests, for both girls, doesn’t tear them apart.
