Enquirer office relocates to Cedar Street

The office of the Hartselle Enquirer is relocating to Cedar Street. The building that has housed the newspaper since the 1970s has been for sale since March 2019 after Boone Newspapers sold the business to Tennessee Valley Media.

The new office, located at 206 Cedar St. NW, is close to the former location on Chestnut Street and was previously occupied by the Wilson Insurance Agency

“We are pleased to be able to find an office so convenient to accommodate the Hartselle Enquirer,” said Scott M. Brown, director of operations for TN Valley Media. “Many people asked if we were going to move the staff to Decatur, but that was never a considerationIt’s important that the newspaper staff and office remain in Hartselle to effectively report on the community.”

The new office will continue to be open from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday to serve the community. The office can be reached by calling 256-773-6566.

The newspaper has bounded books of printed newspapers dating back to the 1920s. These books are being donated to the Hartselle Historical Society and will be available for research there.

Mayor Randy Garrison, who serves on the board of the historical society, said the donation is invaluable to the organization and those wanting to research Hartselle and the surrounding areas.

“On behalf of the Hartselle Historical Society and the City of Hartselle, I want to thank Tennessee Valley Media, owners of the Hartselle Enquirer, for donating the bound files of the Hartselle Enquirer,” he said.  “Bound files dating back to 1929 were included in the collection, all the way to current editions. The history of Hartselle and the surrounding communities for almost 100 years is captured in these files, and both entities will benefit from this history collection.

Again, thanks to those who made the decision to donate this fountain of historyit will be used and treasured for many years to come.”

Brown said that he hopes to have the files digitized within two years.
