Falkville library holds board meeting

The Falkville Public Library held its July meeting July 17 

During the meeting the new board member, Anna Henderson, was appointed acting secretary for the Falkville Library Board. Jane Hill was honored for her service as the interim secretary for several years.  

Pam MacDonald gave the treasurers report, and librarian Jenny Asherbranner gave a summary of activities. Jenny has arranged a reading program for small groups of children.  

The next regular board meeting will be held Sept. 15 at 4:30 p.m. in the conference room.  

Corinth West Methodist Church Announcement  

The members of Corinth West Methodist Church have canceled their plans to hold a joint Bible School with the members of Mt. Vernon Methodist Church in August because of the pandemic. 

Darrell and Ann Maddox, chairpersons of the Annual All Day Gospel Convention Singing at Corinth West Methodist, have canceled this event, which was to be held Aug. 23. They look forward to a spiritfilled singing in 2021.  

Area Community News 

Lauren Estes, of the Massey community, has a new home in Cullman. Lauren has started a new Health and Exercise Center in Cullman. All of her friends wish her well with her new business.  

Dr. Sarah Light, former Falkville resident and teacher at Falkville High School, needs your prayers and communication. She has returned to her apartment from Brookwood Hospital. Her mailing address is 235 Inverness Center Drive, Apt. 24, Hoover, AL 35242. Your cards and letters would be greatly appreciated.  

Roy Calhoun of Baileyton has improved and wants everyone to know how much he appreciates all of the cards and your prayers.  

A birthday lunch for Pam Holmes, Liz Brasher, Drew Owens, Mac Hardin, Kay Farrer, Larry Anders and Ashur Walker, planned for Sept. 5 at the Freight House in Hartselle, has been canceled because of the pandemic.  

Blake Tapscott and Celeste Gustin were united in marriage at Mt. Zion Baptist Church July 18. An estimated 100 guests attended the wedding.  

Scotty and Betty (Wilson) Parker, former longtime residents of Falkville, are in a rehab facility in Athens. Scotty is having therapy for speech and paralysis of his left side, following a stroke. Betty fell recently and broke her hip.
