Bessemer man faces weapons charges

July 14 Tywon Javon Wyatt, 18, of Bessemer was arrested for possessing a concealed weapon.  

During the early hours of July 14, officers were patrolling neighborhoods when they reportedly observed a subject leaving a parked vehicle in the driveway of a residence in Shoal Creek subdivision. Officers attempted to make contact with the subject, and he allegedly jumped a fence and fled the area.  

Officers observed a vehicle leaving the area. In an attempt to elude officers, the vehicle went into Sparkman Park, and the occupants fled, according to police 

Several hours later, Wyatt was picked up in the area and arrested for the weapons charge. 

Authorities report several aspects of this case are still under investigation. They urge citizens to please be diligent in keeping property secure at night.  

These subjects have been coming into town after midnight,” authorities noted. If you see a suspicious vehicle in your neighborhood, please contact the police department.
