TitleThe Three Ninja Pigs

Author: Corey Rosen Schwartz

Illustrator: Dan Santat

AR Reading Level: 3.2

This is a fractured fairy tale of the Three Little Pigs.

In this version, the three little pigs decide they are tired of having their houses blown down by a wolf. Their solution is to train at a ninja school!

Each little pig picks a different technique – aikido, jujitsu and karate. The only problem is the first two learn just enough to have a couple fancy moves but not really enough to protect themselves. Their sister, however, sticks with her training and is ready for the wolf.

This is a cute story that encourages sticking up for oneself and not quitting something you begin. It is also one of our Summer Reading Program bags with a STEM activity.

Hope to see you soon at the library. Happy reading!

Title: “The Water Keeper

Author: Charles Martin

In Charles Martin’s latest book, he takes the reader to Florida’s Intracoastal Waterways and into a dangerous world that revolves around young girls who are taken for slavery purposes.

Murph, the main character, rescues both a woman and a dog from the waterways and finds himself seeking help from an ex-convict named Clay. Time is running out to find a missing girl, and his secrets are threatening to emerge and drown him.

We hope you will come to the William Bradford Huie Library of Hartselle and check out this new title. Happy reading!
