John William Cook Jr. 

Hartselle 

Funeral service for John William Cook Jr., 54, was July 1 at 3 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Glen Smallwood officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.  

Mr. Cook died June 27 at his residence. He was born Dec. 12, 1965, in Morgan County to John William Cook Sr. and Lela Mae Waddell Cook. He was employed by Wilk Tire and Battery. He was a loving father, grandfather and brother.  

He was preceded in death by his wife, Michelle Cook, his parents and a sister, Donna Cook. 

Survivors include one son, Cody Austin Cook (Savannah Hart); three daughters, Kayla Kenner (Patrick), Kadie Cook (Wayne) and Traci Cook; one brother, Tim Cook (Susan); and five grandchildren, Allie Cook, Alyssa Cook, Austin Cook, Noah Cook and Lela-Jo Kenner. 

Kenneth Sherrill Owens 

Hartselle 

A graveside funeral service for Kenneth Sherrill Owens, 79, was held June 18 at 5 p.m. at Forrest Chapel UMC with Bro. Doug Wells and Bro. Harold Thompson officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial was at Forrest Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery. 

Mr. Owens died June 16 at Westminster Assisted Living. He was born Jan. 18, 1941, in Morgan County to Theodore Hobson Owens and Ruby Avis Burch Owens. He was employed as a maintenance mechanic for Monsanto until his retirement.  

He was married to the love of his life, Jo Reid, July 2, 1960, just two weeks short of 60 years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Hartselle. 

Preceding him in death were his daughter, Katrina Jill Owens, his parents and a brother, David Owens. 

Survivors include his wife, Jo Reid Owens; one daughter, Regina Hames (Billy); a brother, Jimmy Owens (Carolyn); a sister, Brenda Cook (Ricky); his grandchildren, Hannah Moore (Sean) and Caroline Wooten (Zach Metcalf); and his great-grandchildren, Ryker and Judah Moore and Lexi, Liam, Gunner and Remi Wooten. 

Pallbearers were Liam Wooten, Ryker Moore, Josh Owens, Jason Cook, Bruce Burch, Joey Burch, Billy Hardin and Leon Key. 

Honorary pallbearers were Bob and Flora Cooper, Jim and Charlotte Martin, Tim Martin, Debbie Auton, Derwin Teichmiller and Wimbreth Howard. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Kindred Hospice, 1015 1st Ave. SW, Suite B, Cullman, AL 35055. 

Kenneth Ray Conner 

Hartselle 

Funeral service for Kenneth Ray Conner, 82, was July 2 at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Phillip Hines officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial was in Salem Cemetery.  

Mr. Conner passed away July 1 at his residence. He was born Jan. 19, 1938, in Morgan County to Kermit Conner and Bernie Mae Flannigan Conner. He met and married his love, Gail Garner, and they were
married for 60 years. He was a veteran member of C Company 1343d EN 3N from 1959–1962. He was a member of the Sparkman Street Church of Christ and was employed by the 3M Company for 35 years in the maintenance department prior to his retirement. He loved woodworking – his specialty was
birdhouses – loved to fish and was an Alabama football fan. 

Preceding him in death were his parents; his grandparents, George and Lillie Flannigan, who raised him; and a brother, James Conner. 

Survivors include his wife, Gail Garner Conner; one son, Michael Conner (Kristin); two daughters, Sandra Owens (Greg) and Angela Curtis (Randy); one sister, Bobby Entrekin; eight grandchildren, Zac Owens (Destiny), Jackson Conner, Rhett Conner, Michelle Hamilton (Markus), Meagan Curtis, Mary Faulk, Sydney Conner and Ava Conner; and five great-grandchildren, Brayson Hamilton, Addison Faulk, Jesse Wallace, Sam Wallace and Baby Hamilton (due in September). 

Pallbearers were Greg Owens, Markus Hamilton, Jackson Conner, Randy Curtis, Jeff Belcher and Jason Holmes. 

Movlyn Roberson 

Falkville 

Graveside funeral service and interment for Movlyn Roberson, 84, was July 6 at 2 p.m. at Falkville City Cemetery with Bro. Danny Ollie officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. 
Mrs. Roberson died July 2 at Falkville Healthcare Center. She was born Sept. 3, 1935, in Limestone County to Thomas Jefferson Massey and Avis Audrey Middlebrooks Massey. She was employed by
Cerro Wire in the Tool Crib prior to her retirement. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. 

Preceding her in death were her husband, Arthur Dean Roberson; a daughter, Judy Faye Abney; her parents; two brothers, Thomas and Arthur Massey; and two sisters, Mary Evelyn Murphree and Margaret Eddy. 

Survivors include two sons, Dean Roberson (JoAnne), Spokane, Wash., and Howard Roberson (Lisa), Falkville; one brother, Gerald Massey, Hartselle; 14 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. 

Pallbearers were Charles Robinson, Jeff Robinson, Jeff Massey, Frankie Massey, Steve Massey and Matthew Roberson. 

Sandra Jean Calvert 

Hartselle 

Funeral service for Sandra Jean Calvert, 67, was July 6 at 11 a.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Steve Hood officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial was in Hartselle City Cemetery. 

Mrs. Calvert died July 2 at her residence.  

She was born Feb. 13, 1953, in Lawrence County to Clifford Nathaniel Dutton and Jeaner Oleta Harville Dutton, who preceded her in death. 

She was a chemical operator/chemtec for 3M Company, prior to her retirement. She enjoyed traveling on trips with her husband Allen and loved riding their motorcycle.  

She was a giving person who loved helping others more than herself. She loved her grandchildren greatly. 

Survivors include her husband, Allen Calvert; two sons, Jason Drinkard (Shanna) and Jeremy Drinkard (Kristy Jackson); one stepson, Zac Calvert; two brothers, C.J. Dutton and Danny Dutton (Cathy); four grandchildren, Madison Drinkard, Jayla Drinkard, Eli Drinkard and Lucas Drinkard; two great-grandchildren, Triston Drinkard and Brandon Drinkard; and a host of other family and friends. 

Pallbearers were Barry Pearson, John Waynick, Kelly Dutton, Lance Dutton, Dustin Dutton and Brent Dutton. 

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or to Vanderbilt Hospital Children’s Center. 

Harold Milam 

Hartselle 

Funeral service for Harold Milam, 69, was July 5 at 3 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial was in Salem Cemetery.  

Mr. Milam died July 1 at Lawrence Medical Center. He was born Dec. 23, 1950, in Mississippi to David Ray Milam and Thelma Brown Milam. He was employed by Dowdle Propane Company as a delivery
driver prior to retirement. He was a hard worker and was a family man. He was a person who would do anything for anybody.  

Preceding him in death were his parents and two sisters, Sandra Milam and Mary Milam. 

Survivors include son Eric Milam, daughter Emily Jones (Chris), sister Ramonda Milam and grandchildren Elijah Milam, Arianna Jean and Abigail Vaughn. 

Larry Scott Bullard 

Danville 

Funeral service for Larry Scott Bullard, 59, was July 6 at 5 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Keith Smith officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial was in Oak Ridge Cemetery. 

Mr. Bullard died July 2 at Huntsville Hospital. He was born June 23, 1961, in Omaha, Nebraska, to Sidney A. Bullard and Bobbie Jean Mitchell Bullard. He was a Baptist in his faith and loved his daughters and grandchildren with all of his heart. He was employed by the City of Decatur for the Parks and Recreation Department prior to his retirement after 26 years of service. He was a firefighter for the Punkin Center Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping with his family. 

Preceding him in death were his parents, brother Alva Bullard and three sisters, Linda Fuhlrodt, Brenda Janczak and Teresa Simmons. 

Survivors include two daughters, Carla “Cricket” Bullard and Jennifer Bullard; three brothers, Steve Bullard, Barry Bullard and Kerry Bullard; two sisters, Claudette Woods and Nikki Watwood; and four grandchildren, Kaylee Bullard, Karlie Bullard, Landon Grandstaff and Trendon Bullard. 

Pallbearers were Barry Bullard, Brian Bullard, Johnny Smith, Dale Wilbanks, Chuck Parker and Brandon Garmany. 

Honorary pallbearers were Landon Grandstaff and Trendon Bullard. 

Brandon A. Smith 

Eva 

Funeral service for Brandon A. Smith, 41, was July 5 at 3 p.m. at Decatur Baptist Church with Bro. Joe McKaig, Bro. Ryan Johnson and Bro. Jay Schug officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial was in Macedonia Cemetery in Oden Ridge.  

Mr. Smith died July 2 at Huntsville Hospital. He was born Sept. 17, 1978, in Mobile County to Burgess D. Smith and Angia Roberts Smith.  

During college, God placed the call on Brandon’s life to serve Him as a missionary. Brandon’s assignment was to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the people of Morocco, North Africa. Brandon fell in love with the Moroccan people and established many friendships around the world.
All who knew Brandon were aware of his love for his family, friends, snow and the Christmas season, Alabama football, Spanish moss, crawfish and any chance to sing and laugh. Most importantly they knew his love for Jesus Christ.  

Preceding him in death were his grandparents, Aubrey Roberts, Lorene Oden Roberts and B.E. Smith. 

Survivors include parents Burgess D. and Angia Roberts Smith, Eva; special friend, Sara McCutcheon, Cullman; grandmother, Fay Smith, Eva; two uncles, Fred Roberts (Kathy) and Joe Roberts (Janice); three aunts, Vanessa Johnson (Russ), Connie Stinnett (Bobby) and Melanie Schraff; and numerous cousins. 

Pallbearers were family and friends.

William David Earls 

Hartselle 

Funeral service for William David Earls, 65, will be July 8 at 3 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Lynn Harvel officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial will be in Mt. Tabor Cemetery.
Mr. Earls died July 5 at Decatur Morgan Hospital. He was born Aug. 16, 1954, in Cullman County to D.D. Earls and Verna Sellers Earls. He was employed by Daystar Enterprises as a truck driver prior to retirement. He loved his wife and family dearly and enjoyed gardening, deer
hunting and camping.  

His parents preceded him in death. 

Survivors include his wife, Yvonne Earls; one son, Dustin Earls; one daughter, Tonya Earls West (Jason); one brother, Darrell Earls (Karen); and two grandchildren, Destany Finkler (Coleman) and
Dillon Earls.
