Marie McClellan 

Falkville 

Funeral service for Marie McClellan, 98, was March 26 at 11 a.m. at Life Pointe Church on Hills Chapel Road with the Rev. Fred Nichols officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial was in Union Hill Cemetery. 

Mrs. McClellan died March 23 at Decatur Health & Rehab Center. She was born Aug. 18, 1921, in Morgan County to Joseph Washington Nelson and Bertha Jane McAnally Nelson. She was a homemaker for her family and a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother.  

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin McClellan, her parents, brothers Leon Nelson and Laverne Nelson and one sister, Carmon Sanders. 

Survivors include two sons, Charles McClellan (Peggy), Falkville, and Frankie O’neal McClellan (Freida), Southhaven, Miss.; one daughter, Mary Moran (Raymond), Brownsville, Ky.; one brother, Ralph Nelson (Mary Alice), Falkville; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. 

Pallbearers were her family and friends. 

Dorothy Louise Barnett 

Vinemont 

Funeral service for Dorothy Louise Barnett, 78, was March 27 at 3 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. John Johnson officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial was in Turney Family Cemetery.  

Mrs. Barnett died March 24 at Decatur Morgan Hospital. She was born Aug. 9, 1941, in Morgan County to Raymond Samuel Looney and Rosie A. Garrison Looney. She was a homemaker for her family and a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother.  

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Barnett; her parents; two sons, William Andrew “Buddy” May and James Earl Mills Jr.; a brother, Charles Wayne Looney; a sister, Betty Jo McGregor; and three grandchildren, Darla May, Destiny Cheyenne and Samuel Parker.
Survivors include three sons, Dewayne May (Janice), Earnie Mills (Janice) and James Mills; four daughters, Diane King (Anthony), Ann Parker (Mike), Kathy Gullett (Michael) and Ellen Griffin; three sisters, Linda Quillen (Jerry), Wilma Cabanaugh (Don) and         Barbara Hamilton (Mike); and 26 grandchildren. 

Pallbearers were Brian Mills, Kurtis Brown, Tommy McGregor, Jacob Hamilton, Jerry Quillen and Michael Quillen. 

Joel Turner 

Falkville 

A graveside funeral service and Interment for Joel Turner, 75, were held March 27 at 1 p.m. at Falkville City Cemetery with Dr. Milan Dekich officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. 

Mr. Turner died March 25 at his residence. He was born Oct. 9, 1944, in Georgia, to Loni Turner and Lorene Hester Turner. 

He was “The Voice of Falkville Football” for 20 years. He had a passion for youth sports and volunteered much of his time through the years as Falkville High School Booster Club president and Falkville Park and Recreation president, as well as coaching many of the youth in the community. He considered it to be a privilege to be a positive influence in their lives.  

He was a lifetime bird hunter and an avid golfer and was the owner of B & J Rubber Company. 

Preceding him in death were his parents and a sister, Lannette Barber. 

Survivors include his wife, Glenda Turner, Falkville; one daughter, Tracey Renae Jones (Larry), Cullman; one son, Rodney Allen Turner (Cindy), Falkville; a nephew, Chris Gibson (Lisa), Hartselle; two grandchildren, Zack Garrison (Erin) and Alli Garrison. 

Pallbearers were some of the players from the ball teams that he had coached. 

Jay William Grove 

Hartselle 

A graveside funeral service and Interment for Jay William Grove, 94, were held March 30 at 1 p.m. at Hartselle City Cemetery with Peck Funeral Home directing. 

Mr. Grove died March 28 at his residence. He was born March 2, 1926, in Pennsylvania to Dorothy Agnes Shindler Grove. Mr. Grove served in the United States Army as a corporal during World War II and in the United States Air Force in the Korean War. He was employed by Conagra as a chemist prior to his retirement.  

He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather.  

He was preceded in death by his wife, Christine F. Grove, and his mother. 

Survivors include one daughter, Lisa Lane (Greg); one son, David Jay Grove (Cindy); and six grandchildren. 

David (Lamar) Knox 

Hartselle 

A graveside funeral service and interment for David (Lamar) Knox, 72, will be April 1 at 1 p.m. at Herring Cemetery with Bro. Randy Atchley and Bro. A. Ray Lee officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. 

Mr. Knox died March 29 at his residence. He was born Feb. 20, 1948, in Morgan County to Willie Maurice Knox and Alma Jean Mooney Knox. He was employed by Water Brothers as a truck driver prior to his retirement.  

Preceding him in death were his parents and a brother, Ricky Lynn Knox. 

Survivors include his wife, Dolly Lenise Knox; a son, David Allen Knox (Jana); two stepsons, Kenneth Hue Pierce (Diane) and Elmer Keith Pierce (Leigh Ann); two daughters, Shelly Cox and         Danielle Dauthit (Eric); 12 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. 

Pallbearers were Mitchell Hughes, Mike Garnett, Steve Boger, Ken Pierce, Elmer Keith Pierce and Kenneth Wilson.
