Prep Scorebook: Tigers pick up road victory at Gadsden City

Baseball

Hartselle 7, Gadsden City 3: Hartselle (4-2) used a five-run first to power them to a 7-3 win over Gadsden City on Saturday.

The Tigers were led by Clay Burns, who had two hits and three RBI. Drew Cartee had a double, two RBI and a run scored while Blaze Gillespie added two hits and a RBI.

Elliott Bray picked up the win for Hartselle. He pitched five scoreless innings and allowed only two hits.

Priceville 20, Brindlee Mountain 1: Priceville (1-2) jumped on Brindlee Mountain early with three in the first and continued to pour on the runs with seven in the second and 10 in the third.

Will King had a hit and four RBI for the Bulldogs. Dylan Johnson, Cole Smith, Johnnie Keahey, JT Terry each added two RBI.

Wyatt Hurt pitched four scoreless innings and struck out seven batters to pick up the victory. He helped his cause with two hits and two RBI.

Priceville 6, Hanceville 2: Priceville scored four in the first and added runs in the third and sixth in their victory over Hanceville.

Mason Mann had a hit and two RBIs to lead the Bulldogs. Johnson and Smith each added an RBI.

Johnnie Keahey picked up the win for Priceville. He allowed two runs over five innings while striking out 11. Will King pitched two scoreless innings while striking out three to earn the save.

Elkmont 10 Danville 4: Dylan Parker had two doubles and two RBI in the Hawks loss to Elkmont on Saturday. Dez Morrow and Austin Johnson each added an RBI.

Carter Holladay took the loss for Danville (0-1). He allowed eight runs in two and two-thirds innings while striking out five.

Danville 12, Cedar Bluff 5: Danville (1-1) used a four-run second and a six-run third to power a 12-2 victory over Cedar Bluff on Saturday.

Dylan McClesky had two hits and three RBI to lead the Hawks. Johnson added two hits and two RBI.

Morrow picked up the win for Danville. He pitched four scoreless innings while striking out two in relief of Landon Garner, who started the game.

Falkville 10, East Lawrence 7: Falkville (1-0) opened the season with a grabbed a 10-7 victory over East Lawrence on Saturday.

The Blue Devils opened the game with three runs in the first. They added single runs in the third and fourth while score two in the fifth and sixth innings.

Peyton Sallee had three hits and five RBI to power the Falkville offense. Wyatt King, Wyatt Tomlin, and Lawson Tew each added a RBI.

Braden Burnett went five innings to pick up the victory. He allowed one run on one hit while striking out seven.

Softball

Priceville 17, Columbia 0: Priceville’s Kylie Hendrix and Maddie Black combined to throw a no-hitter in their 17-0 victory over Columbia on Saturday.

Kaitlin Barber had a grand slam and a single with four RBI to lead the Bulldogs attack. Allie Denson added three hits and four RBI while Abigail Garrison had three hits and two RBI.

Hendrix picked up the win for Priceville (2-1-1). She pitched two hitless & scoreless innings while striking out three. She also added a hit and two RBI in the batter’s box.

Curry 6, Priceville 4:  Regan Walter and Brentley Black each had two hits and an RBI in the Bulldogs 6-4 loss to Curry on Saturday. Taylor Dean and Denson each added a RBI.

Steffani Schrader took the loss for Priceville (1-1-1). She allowed six runs on nine hits in four innings.

Brewer 6, Grissom 3: Brewer (2-1) came from behind with four in the bottom of the third to get a 6-3 victory over 7A Grissom on Saturday.

Kelsi Lemmond had a triple, three RBI and a run scored to lead the Lady Patriots. Amanda Knighten added a hit and two RBI while Dallas Linderman had an RBI. Caitlin Bryson picked up two hits.

Anneliese Kruger earned the victory for Brewer. She allowed three runs on six hits in four innings.

Southside 9, Brewer 5: Leisha Steger had a hit and three RBI in the Lady Patriots loss to Southside on Saturday. Hannah Buchanan and Kim Hillis each added an RBI.

Brewer (2-2) led 5-4 in the fourth before Southside scored three in the bottom of the fourth and take the lead.

Amanda Knighten took the loss for the Lady Patriots. She gave up seven runs on seven hits in four innings.

Girls Soccer

Decatur girls 5, Hartselle 0: The Lady Tigers finished 1-2 in the Silver Division at the Lakeshore Shootout this weekend.

They opened the Shootout with a 1-0 victory over Helena before falling 3-0 to Westminster – Oak Mountain and 5-0 to Decatur.
