Donald Bart Allison 

Eva 

Donald Bart Allison, 79, of Eva, passed away Feb. 18 at his home. Funeral service was held Feb. 21 in the Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Gary Peebles. Burial was in the Key Family Cemetery with Masonic Honors. 

Born March 9, 1940, in the Lawrence Cove Community of Morgan County to Bart and Ruth (Stinson) Allison, he grew up surrounded by family and friends and often told stories of their adventures in the cove. In 1962 the Allisons bought a store on the Eva Road in Cullman County, and his world of family and friends grew larger. If you ever had the opportunity to sit down with him for more than five minutes, he could tell you who your grandfather was and who was president the day you were born. 

Mr. Allison was a 1958 graduate of Eva High School. He was ordained as a deacon at Rock Creek Baptist Church in 1959 and served as a deacon at Westside Baptist, Eva, for more than 30 years. He was inducted as a Freemason in 1966 and served the Vinemont lodge as chaplain and worshipful master. He also served as Democratic beat committeeman in the Providence community of Cullman County and was a member of Eva Art Guild, Friends of the Eva Library and Eva Lions Club. He spent his early retirement growing his collection of day lilies and in recent years could be found patrolling Eva in his golf cart from breakfast at the Wagon Wheel over to his place with the benchwarmers at Eva Exxon.
Mr. Allison is preceded in death by his mother and father; wife Atha (Frost); two sisters, Dean and Jean; and two brothers, Robert and Arvel (Charlene). He was the proud father of Susie (Meg) Olive-Allison and grandfather of Samantha (6), Kingston (4) and Chloe (2), who loved spending time with their Poppy, riding with him on the golf cart and taking him out to eat.  

He is also survived by one brother, Phene (Gayla); his beloved great–nephew, Matthew Frost, and niece Nikki (Phillip) Frost, who have become his own in their tireless care for him; and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and family. 

Pallbearers were Matthew Frost, Cody Frost, Will Weaver, Daniel Allison, Andy Allison and Phillip Frost. 

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Westside Baptist Church’s Annie Armstrong Easter Offering or Eva Public Library. 

Peggy Nelms
Hartselle 

A graveside funeral service and interment for Peggy Nelms, 77, were held Feb. 20 at 2 p.m. at Mount Tabor Cemetery with Pastor Patty Byrd officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.  

Mrs. Nelms died Feb. 18 at Decatur Morgan Hospital. She was born Aug. 21, 1942, in Morgan County to Hollis Roy Springer and Roberta Royer Springer. She was employed as a caregiver for others. 

Preceding her in death were her parents; two sons, Jimmy Dale Hill and Larry Don Hill; and a daughter, Connie Childers.  

Survivors include her husband, Clifford “Smiley” Nelms; two stepdaughters, Regina Osborn and
Jesse Amanda Nelms; a brother, Willard Springer (Mavine); a sister, Janice Moses (James); two grandchildren; and six step-grandchildren. 

Pallbearers were Ernie Moses, Jesse Nelms, Dakota Nelms, Lucas Osborn, Randall Barnett and Brandon Prater.
 

Joyce Blackmon
Hartselle 

Funeral service for Joyce Blackmon, 74, was Feb. 21 at 1 p.m. at West Hartselle Baptist Church with the Rev. Greg Lee officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial was in Corinth Cemetery in
Vinemont.   

Ms. Blackmon died Feb. 16 at her residence. She was born Oct. 18, 1945, in Cullman County to Doyle Belton Walker and Stella Mae York Walker. She was a valued employee of the Hartselle City Schools system as administrative assistant and support personnel prior to her retirement.   

She was a dedicated member of West Hartselle Baptist Church. 

She loved her church family and appreciated their support during her illness. She was a loyal friend but most all a loving mother and grandmother.  

Preceding her in death were her parents; a sister, Kathryn Maddox, and her husband, Joe Maddox; and a daughter-in-law, Deborah Blackmon. 

Survivors include a son, Russell Blackmon; a daughter, Candice Blackmon Rorie (Dan); a brother, Jack Walker (Vivian); a sister, Linda Walker; three grandchildren, Austin Blackmon, McKenzie Rorie and Rylie Rorie; and several nieces and nephews. 

Jacqueline (Jackie) Peebles
Hartselle 

Funeral service for Jacqueline (Jackie) Peebles, 59, was Feb. 21 at 10 a.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Gary Peebles officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial was in Forest Hill Cemetery.   

Mrs. Peebles died Feb. 18. She was born Jan. 25, 1961, in Virginia to Arnold Jerome St. Antoine and Matty Sue Freeman St. Antoine.   

Mrs. Peebles was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Lena Ann St. Antoine. 

Survivors include her husband, Timothy Peebles; two sons, Jerome Goodwin and Timothy Peebles (Heather); four daughters, Angela Chappell (David), Jessica Stutts, Cassandra Stutts and Jenny de Quesada (Daniel); three brothers, Arnold St. Antoine, Wayne Lawson (Gina) and Bruce St. Antoine; four sisters, Emmaline Sims, Teresa St. Antoine, June Helms and Colleen S. Rohrbaugh (Jay); and 13 grandchildren. 

Pallbearers were Hunter Childers, Jerome Goodwin, Arnold St. Antoine, Steven Free, Justin St. Antoine, Joshua St. Antoine, Cody Free and AJ Peebles. 

Roberta Lea Bradley
Decatur 

Funeral service for Roberta Lea Bradley, 52, was Feb. 22 at 6 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Justin Morrow officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.  

Ms. Bradley died Feb. 19 at Decatur Morgan Hospital. She was born Jan. 16, 1968, in West Virginia to Johnny Owen Nangle and Mary Ellen Conrad Nangle. She was employed by Mister Henry’s Restaurant as a waitress prior to her passing. She was a wonderful mother, sister and friend.   

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, James D. Nangle. 

Survivors include two sons, Michael Bradley and Jonathon Nangle; one daughter, Jessica Bradley; and two sisters, Rita Davis and Leona Pire (Lyman).
 

Jim Tapscott
Hartselle 

A memorial service for Jim Tapscott, 80, was Feb. 23 at 3 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Peck Funeral Home directing. 

Mr. Tapscott died Feb. 20 at Decatur Morgan Hospital. He was born Aug. 22, 1939, in Morgan County to Elvis Olen Tapscott and Lottie Viola Vest Tapscott. He was the owner–operator of Home Insulators. 

He was preceded in death by his parents. 

Survivors include one son, Blake Tapscott (Celeste), and one brother, Don Tapscott. 

Cozie Lee Holmes
Hartselle 

Funeral service for Cozie Lee Holmes, 92, was Feb. 24 at 3 p.m. at Cedar Creek Freewill Baptist Church with Bro. Cliff Tomlinson officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial was in Cedar Creek Cemetery.
Mrs. Holmes died Feb. 20 at Decatur Morgan Hospital. 

She was born June 14, 1927, in Morgan County to William Edgar Henry and Mary Ethel Turner Henry.  She was a lifelong member of Cedar Creek Freewill Baptist Church and loved to take care of her community by growing her garden to share with everyone. She was a great cook, known for her wonderful fried pies and cat-head biscuits. She grew beautiful flowers and made arrangements with them for her church. In the 70s she was the owner and operator of Holmes Fashion Wear and was always a homemaker for her family. 

Preceding her in death were her husband, Luther F. Holmes; her parents; and all of her siblings, Albert Henry, James Henry, Gladys Knox, Howard Henry, Robert Henry, Dalton Henry, Charles Henry and Roy Joe Henry. 

Survivors include four sons, Gary Holmes of Hartselle, Glynn Holmes (Dana) of Hartselle, Ronnie Holmes (Sabrina) of Decatur and Mark Holmes of Hartselle; two daughters, Juanita Jones (Raoul), Hartselle, and Kathy Reed, Decatur; 13 grandchildren, Jeff, Jason, Matt, Ashley, Scott, Jared, Abrey, Lauren, Mandy, Michael Hayden, Olivia and Kathryn; seven great-grandchildren, Seth, Kaitlyn, Kylee, Conner, Caleb, Addilynn and Grayson; and one great-great-grandchild, Fischer. 

Grandchildren will be pallbearers. 

Toney Defate Maddle
Corinth 

A graveside funeral service and interment for Toney Defate Maddle, 94, was held Feb. 25 at 11 a.m. at Hartselle City Cemetery with Peck Funeral Home directing. 

Mr. Maddle died Feb. 21 at Magnolia Regional Medical Center. He was born July 14, 1925, in Madison County to Phy Maddle and Leona (Sanders) Maddle. He was employed by Sonoco Woodreels, prior to his retirement.  

He was preceded in death by his parents. 

Survivors include a half-sister, Mary Maddle, Decatur. 

Ruby Louise Frazier
Laceys Spring 

Funeral service for Ruby Louise Frazier, 86, will be Feb. 28 at 2 p.m. at Valhermoso Springs Baptist Church with the Rev. Craye Hall officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial will be in Valhermoso Baptist Cemetery. Visitation will be Feb. 27 from 2–8 p.m. at Valhermoso Springs Baptist Church. 

Mrs. Frazier died Feb. 21 at Huntsville Hospital. She was born Dec. 15, 1933, in Morgan County to Homer McCollum and Martha Styles McCollum. She was a homemaker and a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great– and great–great–grandmother, who especially loved all her grandchildren.  

She was a member of the Valhermoso Springs Baptist Church. Preceding her in death were her husband, James Edward Frazier; her parents; three daughters, Judy Coffman Frazier, Charolette Key and Brenda Daughette; a daughter-in-law, Judy Frazier; and a grandson, Donnie Frazier. 

Survivors include three sons, Howard K. Frazier, Laceys Spring, James K. Frazier, Laceys Spring, and Earkley D. Frazier (Joyce), New Hope; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. 

Pallbearers will be Jason Frazier, Scott Frazier, Kenny Frazier, Colton Frazier, Robert Coffman and Frank Daughette. 

Mary Evelyn Howard
Hartselle 

Graveside service for Mary Evelyn Howard, 99, of Hartselle, was Feb. 25 at 2 p.m. at Burningtree Memorial Gardens with Bro. Tim Rice of Encompass Hospice officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.  

Mrs. Howard died Feb. 22 at The Terrace in Priceville. She was born Nov. 20, 1920, in Franklin County to Ernest James and Mary Wilson Jones James. She was a beloved mother, grandmother and great–grandmother. Mrs. Howard was a member of Hartselle Church of Christ. 

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Eddie F. Howard; and two sons, Jimmie A. Howard and Ronald K. Howard. 

Survivors include one son, Jeff L. Howard (Holly), Hartselle; one daughter, Myra Howard Garrett (Craig) Hartselle; two sisters, Dot Murray of Georgia and Verlon “Boots” Casey of Decatur; two daughters-in-law, Nancy Howard and Kathy Howard; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. 

Pallbearers were her grandsons. 

In lieu of flowers donate to the American Heart Association. 

Shelia Kay Watwood
Hartselle 

Shelia Kay Chaney Watwood, 62, of Hartselle passed away Friday. A memorial
service was held at 2 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Peck Funeral Home with Bro. Ralph Henderson officiating.  

She was born Oct. 7, 1957, in Morgan County to Loyd Fred Chaney and Inez Mollie Waddell Chaney. She passed away Feb. 21, 2020, at her home in Hartselle. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Loyd Fred Chaney and Inez Mollie Waddell Chaney. She is survived by her former husband, Billy Ray Watwood, and brothers Bobby Chaney and Charles Chaney.
