Hartselle’s Lincoln Bryant advances to Wrestling State Championship Finals

HUNTSVILLE – Lincoln Bryant (120 lbs) defeated the defending state champion, Xander McWilliams, in the semi-finals to advance to the Championship match on Saturday. He won the semi-final match in a 5-3 decision. Bryant will face Melton Powe of Gardendale.
Bryant, the 13th seed, won three matches on Friday. He defeated Jared Cherry of Stanhope Elmore by fall, Yogi Childress of Gulf Shores by a 15-0 technical fall, and McWilliams of Wetumpka.
A win gives Hartselle an individual State Champion for the first time since Clint Bender won in 2013.
Other Matches
Payton Roberts (126 lbs) will be in the consolation finals in the 5th place match on Saturday morning.
