Churches, Falkville share news of events

Shady Grove Church Activities  

The members of Shady Grove Baptist Church will hold a blood drive Feb. 16 from 12:305 p.m. All support will be greatly appreciated – and remember, the life you save could be yours or a family member or a friend.  

The Youth Winterfest Concert will be held Feb. 16 in Birmingham. Those attending should be at Shady Grove Church by 2:30 p.m. and will leave the church about 2:45 p.m. Tickets are $15 at the door. 

Anyone who wants to go should let Cissy know no later than Feb. 12 so they can have enough chaperones for the trip.  

Shady Grove Church will hold a Valentine Banquet Feb. 12 at 6 p.m. The banquet will be a fundraiser for Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes.  

A meal of salad, spaghetti bake, bread, drink and dessert will be served with a charge of $10 per person – children eat free! Children will eat in a separate area, supervised by the youth.  

Hannah Terry will have a photobooth set up, and you can get your photos made into magnets for $3. There will also be lots of delicious desserts from their bake sale to choose from.

Falkville Library Board to hold meeting  

The Falkville Public Library Board will meet Feb. 13 at 4:30 p.m. in the office conference room.  

Mt. Zion Baptist Church hosts Singspiration  

Jan. 26 at 6 p.m. the members of Mt. Zion Baptist Church hosted their Singspiration. Area churches and congregations from the South Morgan area met at Mt. Zion to attend the singing. Dr. Jerome Ward, Mt. Zion’s music director, conducted the program, and Mt. Zion’s choir began the song service.   

A highlight for the event was Gary Rhodes solo of a composition he wrote for Fairview–The Grace Place Church. 

Other churches participating were First Baptist Church in Falkville, Victory Fellowship Church, New LifeGod’s Church, Southwest Baptist Church and First Faith Church.  

The Mt. Zion WMU and other members provided food for those attending following the singing.  

Falkville Town Council holds meeting  

The Falkville Town Council met Feb. 3 at 4 p.m. in the courtroom.  

One of their projects coming up for the town is to pave the service street between Second and Third streets by the Highway 31 southbound lane. There are four shops in operation and one shop to be rented, including Falkville Antiques.  

Corinth West Baptist Church Events  

Corinth West Baptist and surrounding communities of Macedonia, Mt. Vernon, Piney Grove, Blair and Logan met at the Corinth West Baptist Church fellowship hall and gym for their Senior Citizens Day activities Jan. 21 at 11 a.m.   

Some 60 people attended, and Brother Glenn Miller gave the program devotional. The visitors provided lunch with a theme of good health, good luck and prosperity for the New Year!   

Patricia Echols presided, and Felicia Cook called four bingo games.  

The next Senior Citizens Day will be Feb. 18 at 11 a.m.
