Four things to watch for in the Morgan County Tournament

The Morgan County Tournament gets underway tonight at Drake Gymnasium on the campus of Falkville High School.

Here are four things to watch for this week.

  1. Hartselle Repeat – Can the 6A #3 Hartselle Tigers win the tournament for the fourth consecutive time? If they do win they will be the first team to win four or more consecutive titles since Austin won five straight in 1980-1984.
  2. Brewer Three-peat – Can Brewer win their third straight County Tournament Title? A brewer win would give them their third straight title and their sixth since 2012. It will also give the Lady Patriots a 20th tournament win.
  3. Boy’s MVP – If a Hartselle Tiger wins the MVP, it will be the fifth consecutive MVP for Hartselle. No other school has won more than four straight since the MVPs were first awarded in 1975.
  4. Girl’s MVP – Can Hope West repeat as MVP? If so, she would be the first 9th grader since Moriah Taylor won the MVP as a freshman in 2016. Also, she would be the first Brewer player to win consecutive MVPs since Riley Northway in 2013 & 2014.
