Falkville honors interim chief of police

The Town of Falkville is honoring interim Chief of Police Aaron Burgess, who is a full-time employee with the Town of Falkville, where he has served for more than nine years.

He began as a reserve officer and worked his way to sergeant and then captain. Aaron also served as a non-commissioned officer in the U.S. Marine Corps for eight years. 

Aaron is a 2004 Falkville High School graduate, with an undergraduate business administration degree from Athens State in 2015 and an executive master of business administration degree in 2018.

Aaron is married to Samantha Blackwood Burgess, and they have three sons, Bradley, Payton and Gabel. They are members of Danville Baptist Church.

Corinth West Baptist Church Activities

Patricia Echols and Patti Condo prepared food and beverages for the men’s and women’s groups at Corinth West Baptist Church Dec. 1.

The women had devotional and prayers led by Dawn Shedd. Plans were made for the Senior Citizens Christmas lunch and bingo, which were held Dec. 17.

The women’s group’s Christmas party was held Dec. 14 at 6 p.m.  Everyone enjoyed these activities, including a Mexican supper.

The annual Christmas program was held Dec. 22 at 10:30 a.m. Taylor Emerson and Shonda Garner conducted the music part of the program. A soup and sandwich lunch was served afterward. 

Mt. Zion Baptist Church Events

A Mt. Zion Baptist Church group of 23 met in Hartselle Saturday morning at 7 a.m. to board a tour bus headed for Nashville, Tenn. Two buses transported people to Opry Mills for shopping first, then to the Opryland Hotel.

While there, they enjoyed viewing the lights, poinsettias and other decorations and exhibits.

Saturday night they traveled to Lebanon, Tenn., to drive through the Galaxy of Lights. This was a beautiful ending for a day’s trip.

Falkville Town Hall holds Christmas breakfast

Falkville Mayor Ken Winkles, town hall staff and town council members enjoyed a Christmas breakfast Dec. 18. The group met at 8 a.m. in the municipal courtroom. 

Fairview–The Grace Place News

Dec. 19 church members at Fairview–The Grace Place enjoyed delivering Christmas baskets.

A Christmas Eve service was held at 5 p.m., conducted by pastor Milan Dekich. Rocky Garrison is their music director. Cassandra Garrison plays the keyboard for the church.
