Joy Ride crew surprises Hartselle teachers, Employees of Year  

Faculty and staff of Hartselle City Schools boarded a school bus early Friday morning to take a Joy Ride. The crew, made up of employees at central office along with HCS Superintendent Dr. Dee Dee Jones, spent a couple hours visiting Hartselle schools and surprising teachers and top employees of the year. Each employee received a plaque and a rose from It’s Your Day.  

The following teachers were chosen as their respective schools’ Teacher of the Year: Sarah Ellis, Barkley Bridge; Barb Helton, Crestline; Whitney Clemons, F.E. Burleson; Kelley Spangler, Hartselle Intermediate; Shelia Reeves, Hartselle Junior High School; and Nanette Edde, Hartselle High School.  

The following employees were chosen as their respective schools Employee of the Year: Debbie Reed, Barkley Bridge; Belinda Logan, Crestline; Angie Jones, F.E. Burleson; Sherry Terry, Hartselle Intermediate; Phyllis Owens, Hartselle Junior High School; and April Davenport, Hartselle High School.  

In addition, two teachers were surprised with a special honor. Barb Helton and Shelia Reeves were recognized as the District Elementary and District Secondary Teachers of the Year, respectively.  

Jones said she is proud of all the employees who were chosen as honorees 

“We’re proud of all our teachers at Hartselle City Schools,” she said. “We’re very excited for everyone we’re recognizing this year.”
