Cruising to Christmas

Beeline Highway car club donates gifts to Hartselle children

Not every child receives Christmas gifts this time of year. That’s a problem Hartselle’s classic car club is trying to change.

The Beeline Highway Classics and Cruisers car club recently delivered Christmas presents to those in need. Club member Debbie Pounders said more than $3,500 was raised to purchase the gifts, as well as 70 turkeys and two full Thanksgiving meals for families in need last month.

The club also provides funds and snacks for the snack closet at Sparkman School.

Pounders said club members sell tickets to the annual Belk Charity Sale every spring. Tickets sell for $5, and the department store reimburses that money as a way to partner with local nonprofit organizations and give back to the community

She said the club’s annual toy drive was held at the last Cruisein in October, at which time many of the Christmas gifts were collected.
