Hartselle wins two in Sneaky Pete’s Rebel Classic
The Tigers traveled to Vestavia Hills to participate in the Sneaky Pete’s Rebel Classic during Thanksgiving week. They finished with a 2-1 record during the event, opening with a loss to Lee-Montgomery before rebounding with victories over Opelika and Faith Academy.
Day One: Lee-Montgomery 76, Hartselle 53
Lee jumped out to a 23-12 lead following the first quarter and never looked back, defeating Hartselle 76-53.
Hartselle was led by Brody Peebles, who finished with 16 points, while Tad Sivley added 15.
Lee-Montgomery was led by DeMarquise Miles, who had 17 points, and Jaman Smith, who finished with 15 points.
Day Two: Hartselle boys 68, Opelika 61
The Tigers rebounded from their opening-round loss with a 68-61 victory over Opelika in the consolation bracket.
The Tigers built a 10-point lead at halftime and held on as Opelika rallied in the fourth.
Hartselle was led by Peebles, who finished with a game-high 30 points. Sivley added 15 points, while Luke Ward had eight and Trent Wright scored seven.
Opelika was led by Brandon Howard, who had 15; Ja Carr with 11; and Isaiah Knight with 10.
Day Three: Hartselle boys 63, Faith Academy 31
The Tigers held Faith Academy to zero points in the first quarter as they jumped out to a 20-0 lead. Hartselle built the lead to 40-8 and cruised to the 63-31 victory.
Peebles had a game-high 22 points to lead Hartselle, while Kiah Key added nine points, and Sivley had eight.
Haaziq Loftin’s 10 points led Faith Academy.
Hartselle improved to 5-2 for the season.
