Mt. Nebo Baptist church plans 150th anniversary celebration

Mt. Nebo Baptist Church leaders met Aug. 14 for planning the 150th anniversary celebration of the church’s founding. 

Other members also attended for an annual business meeting. 

The Rev. Greg Compton is their pastor. The date for the celebration will be Oct. 20.

Piney Grove Christian Church Activities

The Piney Grove Christian Church youth group sponsored a fundraiser car wash Aug. 24 in the Pizza Hut parking lot. The Rev. Aaron Warnick is their pastor and leader.

Mt. Zion Baptist Church Events

The Mt. Zion Baptist Church Women’s Missionary Union group met Aug. 19 at 6:30 p.m. 

The fall revival begins Sept. 28, and the Christmas Arts and Crafts Show will be held Nov. 9 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. 

The funds raised from booth rentals will go to mission teams.

All departments were proud of the success of the prayer walk at Falkville High School Aug. 14 at 6 p.m. 

The church calendar event organizer is Carol Puckett. Beverly Murphy conducted the meeting and Bible study of Acts 6.

Singspiration planned for Sept. 29

The Fifth Sunday Night Singspiration will be held Sept. 29 at 6 p.m. The activities will be hosted by the tabernacle leaders at the facility on Tabernacle Road in Hartselle. 

The churches in the South Morgan area will present songs by the choirs, individuals, quartets and others. Area churches of many denominations will participate in the activities.  

Refreshments will be served by the attending churches in the dining hall.

Corinth West Baptist Church holds National Senior Citizen Day Program

A special program was held at Corinth West Baptist Church in honor of National Senior Citizen Day. Pastor Glenn Miller gave the program devotional for the event, Aug. 20 at 11 a.m. 

The committee directing the program, including the meal, was Patricia Echols, GayNell Wilhite and Anita Reid. 

Four games of bingo were called by Felicia Cook. 

GayNell was the founder of the Senior Citizen Day each month, 30 years ago. The event has attendance from communities in Morgan, Lawrence, Winston and Cullman counties. 

Seventeen meals were carried out to area sick and shut-ins. 

The September Senior Citizen Day will be held Sept. 17 at 11 a.m.
