Sherrell Holaway

Funeral service for Sherrell Holaway, 77, was Aug. 29 at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Brad Killough and Bro. Shane Britt officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial was in Roselawn in Decatur.
Mr. Holaway passed away Aug. 24 at Huntsville Hospital. He was born Oct. 18, 1941, in Morgan County to Dewey Guy Holaway and Ethel Mae Wilcutt Holaway.
He was the owner and operator of Holaway’s Sales and Rentals, where he rented portable signs and moved storage buildings and sold fireworks. He enjoyed racing and owned and built race cars at Holaway’s Speed Shop.
He loved people, never met a stranger and was always laughing and telling stories. Family was especially important to him, and spending time with his children and grandchildren was his joy.
Hunting and fishing were pastimes he loved doing in his spare time.
Preceding him in death were his parents, a sister, Wilma Hall, and a brother, Roger Holaway. Survivors include his wife, Barbara Ann Holaway; two sons, Michael Holaway (Dee) and Blake Holaway (Brigette); three daughters, Cindy Stewart (Larry), Cheryl McGlocklin (Artie) and Dawn Dozier (Stacy); one sister, Jane Hill (Wayne); 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Dorothy Bates
Falkville
A graveside funeral service and interment for Dorothy Bates, 86, was Aug. 28 at 11 a.m. at Falkville City Cemetery with Bro. Pearl Jenkins officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.
Mrs. Bates died Aug. 27 at Woodland Village Health Care. She was born Sept. 9, 1932, in Morgan County to Joel Webster England and Annie Mae Chaney England.
She was the owner and operator of The Sandwich Shop in Falkville prior to her retirement. She attended Roundtop Community Church.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Morgan Bates, and her parents. Survivors include two sons, Joel Legg (Rita) and Wayne Legg (Jane); seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
L.C. Robinson
Hartselle
Funeral service for L.C. Robinson, 90, was Aug. 30 at 4 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. David Weaver officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial was in Salem Methodist Cemetery.
Mr. Robinson died Aug. 28 at Summerford Nursing Home. He was born Aug. 12, 1929, in Morgan County to Allen Robinson and Pearl Powell Robinson. He was employed as a brick mason prior to his retirement and was a member of the Salem Methodist Church.
Preceding him in death were his wife, Dorothy Robinson, his parents and a daughter, Shelby Burgess. Survivors include one son, Max Robinson (Pam); one daughter, Beckie Judkins; five grandchildren, Matt Hogan (Felicia), Angie Evans (Shane), Casey Ferguson (Zach), Landon Robinson and Logan Robinson; and three great-grandchildren, Cody Evans, Paxton Ferguson and Carson Hogan.
Douglas K. “Doug” Miller

A graveside funeral service and internment for Douglas K. “Doug” Miller, 73, were held Sept. 1 at 5 p.m. at Enon Cemetery in Cullman County, with the Rev. Tim Kinney and Bro. Krel Buckelew officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.
Mr. Miller died Aug. 28 at Huntsville Hospital. He was born Nov. 19, 1945, to Leon Miller and Lorene Clemons Miller. He was a heavy equipment mechanic for the Redstone Arsenal and an auto mechanic prior to his retirement.
He was a veteran after serving in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Preceding him in death were his parents and sisters, Gwen Sanders and Elora “Baby Sister” Miller.
Survivors include his wife, Dollie Miller; one daughter, Amanda Holcomb; and one grandchild, Tyler Holcomb.
