MCSO to offer inaugural Citizen Academy
The Morgan County Sheriff’s Office will be offering an inaugural Citizen Academy beginning Aug. 27. The academy will provide an overview of the sheriff’s office and the everyday tasks that take place in different divisions.
“It is going to be an interactive, hands-on view of the sheriff’s office,” said public information officer Mike Swafford.
Throughout the 10-week course, citizens will be able to tour different areas of the sheriff’s office, including patrol, criminal investigation, narcotics, special victims unit and the jail.
In a press release, Sheriff Ron Puckett said the academy is a way to invite the community to take part in the office.
“The sheriff’s office belongs to the people of Morgan County. It is only natural to invite them in and give them the opportunity to learn about all that we do on their behalf,” Puckett said. “The Citizen Academy is one way we plan to do that.”
Applications for the academy are available online and at the sheriff’s office. Applications can be found at http://bit.ly/2GAElKP.
