FALKVILLE- The Blue Devils have changed the way strength and conditioning will come into play this fall by incorporating different workouts to increase the team’s stamina and physical fitness. 

Falkville head coach Tyler Mitchell said he was in contact with a local Marine group and planned to involve its members this summer in the players’ workouts. 

“Sgt. Hudson out of Decatur was the Marine who worked with us on this occasion,” Mitchell said. “He went through a dynamic warmup then team jog and finished with a line circuit. They had five rounds and did different drills while their team waited to go. They also utilized different static exercises.”

The Marine workout took place Thursday about 6 a.m. at the Falkville field. 

“It was a very intense workout,” Mitchell said. “He also spoke afterwards. I felt like it was a great day for the players.” 

He said all players participate when these workouts occur, and this was the second time for a Marine workout this summer. 

“They will also be involved in our off-season workouts,” Mitchell said. “They will come out and put the guys through a workout that’s physically and mentally demanding. I feel like that push on our players is important.” 

Falkville will open the season against county rival Danville this fall.
