James Farris Robinson 

Hartselle 

Funeral service for James Farris Robinson, 63, was July 16 at 1:30 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Danny Garrison officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial was in Shoal Creek Cemetery. 

Mr. Robinson died July 14 at Decatur Morgan Hospital. He was born April 17, 1956, in Morgan County to Mitchell Robinson and Eva Moore Robinson. He was self-employed as a mechanic. 

James was a very loving, family-oriented person and attended Christ Fellowship Church. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Paul Robinson. 

His family would like to say thank you to the doctors and nursing staff at Decatur-Morgan Hospital for the care given to Mr. Robinson. 

Survivors include four daughters, Tina Smith (Charles), Lisa Burnett (Don), Charlene Chandler (Gene) and Darlene Odom (Rick); two sisters, Peggy Jackson and Ann King (David); eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. 

Pallbearers were Charles Smith, Gene Chandler, Don Brown, Caleb Garrison, Brian Burnett and Frank Morgan Jr. 

 

Versal “Roy” Hewitt 

Hartselle 

Funeral service for Versal “Roy” Hewitt, 84, was July 20 at 2 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial was in Hartselle City Cemetery. 

Mr. Hewitt died July 17 at his residence. He was born Sept. 3, 1934, to Versal and Matilda Hewitt. He was a U.S. Navy veteran. He served as a pastor and minister of Antioch Baptist Church, from which he retired in 2016. 

He was preceded in death by his parents. 

Survivors include his wife, Oral L. Stiles Hewitt; three sons, Jerome A. Hewitt, Georgia, Michael J. Hewitt (Faye), Hartselle, and Clifford L. Hewitt, Mansfield, Ohio; two daughters, Shelly J. Rowe (Wayne), Townsend, Ga., and Nadene A. Vian (Scott), Mansfield, Ohio; one brother, Lynn Hewitt (Nicki); one sister, Molly Lung; 19 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were family and friends. 

 

Winston Jerry Stewart 

Hartselle 

A graveside funeral service with military honors and interment for Winston Jerry Stewart, 78, were July 20 at 3:30 p.m. at Andrews Chapel Cemetery with Bro. Ben Stanley officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. 

Mr. Stewart died July 17 at Decatur Morgan Hospital. He was born Aug. 6, 1940, in Limestone County to Gordon Stewart and Oma Lou Downs Stewart. He was employed at Onan as a maintenance mechanic prior to his retirement. He was a member of the UAW, a member of the Decatur Christian Fellowship and also coached for Dixie Youth Baseball. Mr. Stewart was a member of the United States National Guard. 

Preceding him in death were his parents and a daughter, Jan Stewart. 

Survivors include his wife, Shelby Jean Tolbert Stewart; two sons, Jay Stewart (Donna) and Jeremy Scott Stewart; four daughters, Donna Campbell (Greg), Julie Stewart, Rebecca Salmonson (Matt) and Kiona Stewart; two sisters, Pat Keizer (Bob) and Charlotte Holloway; 11 grandchildren, Ellen Campbell Bankester (David), Emily Campbell, Jacob Stewart, Josh Stewart, Sloane Stewart, Hailey Stewart, Tucker Stewart, Josie Claire Stewart, Ethan Salmonson, Colin Salmonson and Stella Salmonson; and one great-grandchild, Anna Kate Campbell.  

 

Patricia Ruth Cope “Pat” Woodruff 

Hartselle 

Patricia Ruth Cope “Pat” Woodruff, of Hartselle, 77, was born in Huntsville Feb. 17, 1942, and passed away peacefully in her Savior’s arms July 16 in Athens, following a brief illness. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Carlos Eldred Cope and Nannie Ruth Jarrell Cope; husband, Bobby S. “Bob” Woodruff; and brothers Stanley Royce Cope, Carlos Wayne Cope (wife, the late Jane Bulman Cope) and Charles “Chuck” Dudley Cope. 

She is survived by her sister, Anna Cope Crutcher (husband, R. O. “Dickey” Crutcher, Jr.) of Taft, Tenn.; her brother, Larry Eldred Cope of Owens Cross Roads; her nieces and nephews and their families, Kimberly Cope Piner, Mark Cope, Tamara Cope Fleming, Deanne Crutcher, Jimmy Crutcher and John Richard Crutcher; and her stepsons and their families, George Kobler and Jonathan “W.P.” Kobler. 

Pat graduated from S. R. Butler High School, in Huntsville, and began her career. She offered faithful secretarial and administrative support in a spirit of excellence to the following employers: G. W. Jones & Sons Engineers, Hartselle Real Estate and Insurance and, finally, Peck Insurance, where she retired. 

She received the distinguished Alabama Insurance Woman of the Year Award in the 80s. 

Pat was beloved by her friends and family. She was generous, caring, determined, witty and brilliant. She enjoyed and appreciated things of beauty. Cooking and caring for others, arranging flowers, decorating, and caring for animals were among her greatest joys. She treasured her family. 

The family is deeply appreciative to the compassionate friends and family who surrounded her. The family is sincerely grateful to the dedicated nurses and staff of Athens Health and Rehab and Good Samaritan Hospice of Athens and Madison, who attentively and lovingly cared for Pat in her last few weeks. 

A memorial service for Pat Woodruff will be held July 28. Visitation is at 3 p.m., with the service following at 4 p.m., at Peck Funeral Home Chapel in Hartselle, with chaplain Dan Anderson officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Manna House, 2110 S. Memorial Parkway, Huntsville, AL 35801, or a charity of choice.

Christi Leigh Roberts Stover 

Rogersville 

Funeral service for Christi Leigh Roberts Stover, 33, will be July 24 at 3 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Carl Sanford officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial will be in Johnson Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be July 24 from 2-3 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home. 

Ms. Roberts died July 18 at Decatur Morgan Hospital. She was born April 26, 1986, in Morgan County to Christopher Roberts and Vicki Faulkner. She was a beloved mother, daughter, sister, granddaughter and Sissy. She attended the Sanctuary in Hartselle and was employed by Laquinta Inn as a motel clerk. 

Preceding her in death were her fiancé, Rayburn Javon Stover; a son, Asa Lawrence Roberts; and grandmother, Linda Roberts. Survivors include two sons, Trent Faulkner and Drakstin Stover; father, Christopher Roberts; mother, Vicki Faulkner; two brothers, Chad Roberts and Ryan Roberts; two sisters, Brooke Roberts and Chloe Faulkner; and grandparents, Dean Martin, Onnie Faulkner and John Roberts. 

Pallbearers were Jeff Faulkner and Chad Roberts.
