Corinth West Baptist to host missionary program June 30

The members of Corinth West Baptist Church will host their missionary program June 30 at the 11 a.m. worship service. The guest speakers will be Kevin and Cynthia Smithson, who are serving in Nepal as missionaries. There will be a covered dish meal honoring the Smithsons following the service. Kevin is the son of Ronnie Smithson, formerly of the Corinth community.

The fathers attending Corinth West Baptist Church were honored during the Sunday morning worship service June 16 at 11 a.m. The children and the youth members presented the fathers with gifts and good wishes.

Anniversary Celebration

The Rev. Wayne and Gloria Johnson Penn enjoyed celebrating their 65th anniversary June 6 at their Lebanon community home. June 8 their daughters Joy Hand and Floresa Beseth hosted an anniversary celebration for them at the First United Methodist Church in Hartselle.

Gloria lived with her parents H.R. and Ora Johnson and siblings at Neel before moving to Massey. Bro. Wayne lived in the Penn community with his parents Marvin and Grace Penn and three brothers. Both Gloria and Wayne attended Danville schools. He served as pastor at Lawrence County Baptist Churches, Morgan rural churches and Decatur Baptist churches. His most recent retirement was in January at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, near Falkville.

Many church members, family and friends attended the event.

Lebanon Baptist Church Activities

The members of Lebanon Baptist Church held their Vacation Bible School June 2-7. The Bible School was held from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Sheryl Lee was in charge of the music, and Anita Ashley taught crafts. Brother Randy Ashley directed the activities, including the recreation. Ken and Allison Blackwood taught the missions class.

Mt. Zion Baptist Church Events

Mt. Zion Baptist Church held a yard sale fundraiser for the Guatemala Mission at Cedar Cove Grocery June 15 from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tracy Ward and Kim Hall conducted the event and appreciate the church, community and area support.

Mt. Zion members are currently holding their Vacation Bible School activities, which will go through June 27. For more information about the Bible School, contact Carol Puckett at 256-773-8997 or Janice Stewart at 256-318-1267.

New Life God’s Church to host Singspiration

The members of New Life God’s Church will host their Singspiration June 30 at 6 p.m. Eight to 10 churches will present music from their choirs and other members. Refreshments will be served in the fellowship hall following the program. The Rev. Phillip Hardin, pastor at New Life, will conduct the service.
