Hartselle youth softball All-Stars get into action

The Hartselle Youth Softball All-Star teams started their journey to the state tournament in Alabaster with Pre-Area tournaments the past two weekends.

Pre-Area 1 was played at Palmer Park in Madison May 31 through June 1, and two teams came away with tournament championships. In 6U, Hartselle went 4-1 to win the championship. In 8U, Hartselle Black went undefeated to win the tournament.

In 6U, Decatur held on to defeat Hartselle to force a winner-take-all championship game. Hartselle won the second game 17-4 to bring home the championship.

In 8U, Hartselle Black came back from a 17-2 deficit to defeat Florence 20-19 in the championship game.

Pre-Area 2 was played in Florence at the Coffee-O’Neal Sportsplex June 7-8. The Hartselle 6U team was the only team to bring home a championship victory.

Hartselle 6U defeated Athens 27-6 in the championship game to earn the team’s second tournament victory of the All-Star season on Saturday.
