One shot during disagreement with neighbor

The Morgan County Sheriff’s Department responded to a report of a shooting on Bethel Circle in Hartselle earlier this afternoon. According to Mike Swafford, public information officer with the department, the call came in around 1:26 this afternoon and stemmed from an argument between two neighbors.

During the argument, one of the neighbors was shot. Once deputies arrived on scene they were able to stabilize his condition until he was airlifted to Huntsville Hospitals. According to Swafford, the man is undergoing surgery, but is in stable condition at last report.

“At approximately 1:26 a call came in for a shooting roughly in the 400 block of Bethel Circle. Deputies responded and were on the scene in roughly 11 minutes and had the scene secure. They began to stabilize the victim who was airlifted to Huntsville Hospital,” Swafford said.

At this time, the department has completed the scene phase of the investigation. Investigators were able to retrieve the handgun used during the altercation and interview the suspected shooter and witnesses. “No arrests have been made at this time. We will attempt to interview and take a statement from the victim if available,” Swafford said.
