Falkville Class of 1952 enjoys breakfast meeting

The Falkville High School Class of 1952 enjoyed a breakfast meeting at Libby’s restaurant in Priceville Jan. 26. Class leader Howard Gibson reported on the class sick and shut-in list. Betty Sanders collected donations for the flower fund. Others in attendance for the breakfast meeting were Scott and Betty Wilson Parker, Sarah Hadley Gaines, Charlotte Evans Wise and Ray Sanders.

Mt. Zion Baptist Church Activities

Children, parents and others enjoyed skating at the Point Mallard Ice Rink Jan. 20 at 4:30 p.m. Jamie Stewart was in charge of planning the event.
Jan. 21 at 6:30 p.m., the Women’s Missionary Union met for their monthly business session and study. Beverly Murphy presided, and Brandon Tew led the program on the church bylaws.

The Rev. Dr. Edwin Hayes of Cullman, a retiree from the First Baptist Church, is the interim pastor for Mt. Zion’s Sunday morning and evening worship services and weeknight activities.
Feb. 13 at 6 p.m., Mt. Zion members and visitors will have a soup and chili supper preceding a program by Gracie Murphree from the Honduras Mission they support. The Milestones Drugs Rehab from Hartselle will be their guests.

Good wishes for a speedy recovery for Jerome Ward, choir director, who suffers from a broken foot. The interim music director is Vaughn Burden from Falkville First Baptist Church. Vaughn also sings with Charles Holladay, “PeeWee” Murphy and Joe Fitzgerald at the Summerford Nursing Home activities room on the fourth Sunday at 2 p.m.

Victory Fellowship Church hosts Singspiration

Victory Fellowship Church in Falkville hosted the Singspiration song service Jan. 27 at 6 p.m. The Rev. David Carroll is their pastor, and he conducted the church’s presentations of hymns, contemporary and gospel music numbers. The following churches participated in the service: Mt. Zion Baptist, Piney Grove Christian, New Life-God’s Church, Victory Fellowship, First Baptist of Falkville and First Faith Church.
The next Singspiration will be held March 31 at 6 p.m. with the location being announced at a later date.Falkville Town Hall Announcements

The Falkville Town Hall monthly newsletter for February is featuring the Falkville Public Library Board and its service to the town and area. Board members are Rhona Summerford, president; Kay Farrer, secretary; Pam MacDonald, treasurer; Tina Rogers; and Jane Hill. Jenny Asherbranner is the librarian, and Marie Sivley is the aide.

McKendree United Methodist Church News

McKendree United Methodists who attended the 10:45 a.m. worship service enjoyed the music portion led by Tom Summerford. Two of the group’s favorites were “Victory in Jesus” and “He Touched Me.” Several of the members attended a recent Gaither concert and appreciate the talent of Bill and Gloria Gaither, who wrote “He Touched Me.” Tina Summerford is the church pianist.

The Rev. Darrell Mosely started a series of messages on “Living A Good Life” and used the first chapter of Genesis for reference and home reading. The Rev. Darrell continues his visitation of the sick and shut- ins. His work with the prayer warriors and understanding that loneliness is a disease is rewarding in a wide area.
Falkville Blue Devils Sports News
Congratulations to the Falkville Blue Devils basketball team on their Morgan County Championship win in the Danville tournament Jan. 25. The Blue Devils won over Eva, 22-10.
Team members are Jaxon Stringer, Bron Gandy, Clay Fitzgerald, Reed Dillard, Braxton Beasley, Preston Henderson, Everett Massey and Justice Hurd. Their head coach is Jason Henderson, and the assistant coaches are Chris Gandy and Brandon Dillard. They all received championship rings.
